Now THAT'S a links bunker! The Dunes at Barnbougle, Tasmania. in the states, thats what we call one hell of a neglected bunker. doesnt look like its been raked in months. and it would look like arse in the GNCD with the absence of proper texture blending from rough to sand.

As a links golf fan meant to post on here ages ago. Although I've been to Scotland a few times I've not actually played golf there. The closest was a few walks around some of the courses around St Andrews. I have however played several around England and Wales. Prince's (next to Royal St Georges) in Kent was my first. I remember my Dad saying how amazing it was but when I arrived I was shocked thinking it was just neglected land and patchy looking greens. But then I played it... it was like suddenly being enlightened , a golf course doesn't need to look pristine and perfect to play like a dream. Truly in love with a proper British links course. I have wanted to recreate that experience in TGC but the tools aren't quite up to the job yet IMO. I.e. you can't get that long rough everywhere look, and, as that bunker above shows, you can't recreate the beauty of a mess like that Having said that I did give it a go with Royal Brumby after seeing Yeltzman do such a good job on Birkdale. TGC isn't perfect but I'm pleased with the results, hoping TGC2 lets us go another level. I took inspiration from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales with that one. Mostly England and Wales My 13th hole on Brumby was based off this scottish hole (apparently the 3rd at Trump International... don't judge me, I just knew it was on a scottish links course from a google image search) My next course is going to be another links course, this time based off Kingsbarns most likely. I love the coastal setting with the rocky beaches etc. It is also a links course that features trees more so than most. Feel like it has potential to create a very dramatic setting. I don't do RCRs but take a lot of inspiration from the great courses we have IRL

I plan to do one more links course at least love the look of these courses wish I could make them more rugged looking as to me that's the natural beauty of links courses. Tgc2 will be the next time I look into links course more than likely. Cape kidnappers will most likely be my last course on tgc unless I finish my pet project I'm thinking of doing kidnappers will most likely be my best course love the sea side feel of that course feels like a links course so hopefully you guys will enjoy that one. Hope they change the bunkering options for tgc2 pot bunkers look bunker depth etc

And Kingsbarns - wow, what a great links course. Please post here when you're done with your new one based on it. I agree with everything you said about links courses. It's pure golf, with the courses not being so much imposed on the land (like most golf courses today) as being integrated with the existing land. Thanks for your post and insights.

Cheers, glad you enjoyed Brumby. Yeah will definitely post my new one here. Not got started yet as I am waiting for my new PC to arrive. I've designed on PS4 to this date so excited to see how I get on designing on PC. I am a little bit in love with Kingsbarns right now. I wish I lived a bit closer to give it a play as it just looks stunning. It certainly has fired a lot of ideas off in my head. Can't wait to get started on it . The rocky beach has potential to look epic if I can get it right, I'm a little concerned about the object meter given what I want to do but we'll see.
