Today was a clinic in golfing. Well done Phil and congrats to Stenson. Looking forward to the next Major!

I had £2.50 on Mickelson at 40/1 EW. I had Henrik Stenson in an envelope on a £10 bet, so I'm picking up a good £37.50.

I've loved Phil ever since I got to play against him in college. The man can't be pissed. To go out and shoot his score and being beat by someone who had to shoot a record setting performance to win. Whatcha going to do?

Finally a male swede wins a major. Been close a couple of times, but this was brilliant! Well played Phil and Henrik.

Was a pleasure to watch The Open, and well played to both Stenson and Mickelson, but I've got to disagree with all those saying it was a classic, etc. Don't get me wrong, it was faultless golf by the two of them, but as a spectacle it wasn't as exciting as it could have been, at least for me anyway.
Personally I prefer when there are as many as possible still in with a shout of winning. When you have guys playing in different groups with a chance, holing long putts, big roars going up around the course, etc (one of the many reasons I love the Masters more than any other major). When you just have two guys in with a chance it kind of takes away from the rest of the golf on show.
On another note, and I'm sure the British guys and girls on here will agree with me, I hate that Sky Sports have The Open now instead of BBC. I loved watching golf without adverts, now we have to put up with constant ad breaks. They may only be one minute long, but still irritating...

It's a shame BBC lost it but you have to admit Sky's coverage is excellent, if you can ignore the adverts. To have the whole of Wednesday following players around on their practice rounds was brilliant, plus all the demonstrations. BBC just haven't got the air time to be able to do that, unfortunately. They should bring in Peter Alliss for the Open though I know what you're saying about having lots of people in contention, but the sheer quality of the two in front is what made it a classic. It was a toe to toe duel, the front nine especially was some of the best golf I've seen.

I loved it, not very often you get those gladiatorial, head to head battles outside of Ryder Cups.
Sky did a great job with it as they do everything else

Still can't wrap my head around Stenson's finish.
Bird, Bird, drops a bomb for bird then hits a 4I to five feet to deliver the knock out blow on a hole where no one has hit it close all day. All this while chasing his first major and being up against one of the fiercest "winners" in the game.
And finally sealing the day by sinking that breaker for lowest total ever at a major.
BEAST.

Its easy with the aids on though. He shudda played TST if he wanted a real challenge.

Their coverage was good yeah, I would just like to watch it without adverts, and with Peter Alliss!
I suppose it could be worse, whenever the lesser tournaments are shown and The Golf Channel in America is the host broadcast the golf is simply unwatchable. 5 minutes of coverage, ad break, 2 shots, ad break, 3 shots, ad break. How they can get away with this I don't know, it literally is unwatchable.
