Seriously, jmo, here's the thing...Muirfield is a private club.....the membership votes on what happens in that club....
Remember Augusta not so many years back...and Tiger??? yes...no...?
The membership has the right to decide.......
Also remember, that there are many clubs, spas and gyms that are female only........TRUTH......just sayin'....
Supposed indignance...right or wrong...does not make anything right......
Everyone...regardless of gender, race, color or religion will eventually evolve ............My thoughts......
All that said.....Everyone, should be entitled to their own space...regardless......

Way back, okay not so many years ago...Arizona did not celebrate Martin Luther King Jr as a holiday. In fact for a while it was the only state that didn't. The voters rejected it as is their right. The NFL in fact took away the Superbowl due to that decision. The public decided, the NFL a private company responded. After Arizona eventually did mark the holiday, Arizona got their first Superbowl.
That is the way things work. However when government tries to get in the way of a private business that is where I believe there is an issue. The Redskins are still the Washington Redskins. The Federal Government decided to take away the team's copyright protection. The team has broken no laws and has had no lawsuits successfully ruled against them and yet the government decided to pull this crap. I have an issue with that. Now if the NFL turned around and said to the team, change the nick name or you are out of the league, that is a private business making that call and i would have no problem with them doing it. (I'm not in favour of the Redskins changing their name btw). Private companies get to choose who they wish to associate with just as all of us humans do. If we don't like the way someone else acts/thinks, we can choose not to interact with them. If the British Open folks don't want to associate with a course that goes against its own brand or beliefs, that is their choice. At that point it is up to Muirfield to decide whether to change or not.
In the end Muirfield doesn't have a RIGHT to the Open Championship and the R&A is under no obligation to play on Muirfield's course.
