im not crazy, maybe i am a little.
here is my review:
lol... I didn't know there was a real Big Bear Lake. I just liked the name. lol My course is not based on the real Big Bear Lake.
I'm guessing you had a few drinkies while playing? lol You had some spot on points though which i knew going in. I'm a PS4 designer and i have to deal with the course creator crashes every 5 mins so it finally got to the point of pure frustration. I did have a few spots to polish more but overall the course has a pretty natural look. The one hole you were pretty critical of was 3 and you almost made a hole in one.
hahaha that was pretty funny.
Lemme See if I can address everything that I can remember. lol
Hole 1 - Brown patch in-between fairway and green - agreed
Hole 2 - Green way to big - definitely agreed
Hole 3 - Tree in the way on right to a left sloping green - This was by design, forcing a shaped shot left to right for a good result which you had no problem with. (Remember, Sunday pin placement)
Hole 4 - The backdrop was sand used as snow not asphalt. lol ( Sand on hole needed a lot of work. - agreed
Hole 5 - To me doesn't need a ton of work just some minor touch ups
Hole 6 - Use smaller size retaining wall pieces - agreed (only comment here... was surprised)
Hole 7 - grass in bunker (was going to be part of my clean up if the crashes didn't want me to pull my hair out. - agreed - This hole was also reachable which you didn't explore. Aim to the right over the trees and you're on in one given the right winds
Hole 8 - didn't have many comments
Hole 9 - don't recall many comments
Hole 10 - Bathroom out of place. - lol agree to disagree I've been to a few PGA courses and regular courses and have see some stuff like this and you're right... the doors have dents and side of building have been hit... lol
Hole 11 - "All risk no-reward" lol - disagree... if you have a good wind I've watched a ghost player put it to 7 feet from the hole on the green. I personally got on the green but it was a long putt. You just have to get lucky with the wind speed / direction
Hole 12 - yeah this one needed work - agreed
Hole 13 - I personally like the narrow tee shot that opens to a wide fairway... this is what you saw. It's just a personal like of mine and threw one on this course with a high risk high reward 2nd shot with a lengthy layup. You're approach was sport on on where you wanted to land it but you gotta hit that spot. you still made birdie though.
Hole 14 - I'm a "pot bunker" style designer and I try to bring it to the U.S. courses. I love bunkers that funnel into them from fairways, just a personal like of mine and adds some difficulty to the course at the same time. The approach is not impossible though. I've made a birdie from about 1 foot on that hole... you just gotta land it in the right spot which is more generous than you think.
Hole 15 - one of my favorite holes.. I don't think you said anything here
Hole 16 - You seemed happy about some elevation
Hole 17 - Hitting driver can get you on the green in 1 here as well but it comes with risk of deep bush filled waste bunkers.
Hole 18 - that bunker near the green is going to haunt me.
Thanks for the review and my next one J.W. Everglades will be better I promise. I still think 7.3 is fair for my course only compared to what I have seen / played on the CC, Euro and PGA tours over the past year. I remember playing in several events wondering really? This course made it? Did they use like 10% of the planting? I mean just some serious courses that need a complete overhaul. lol so in a way i felt you were a little tough on me but I'll take it... lol
Thanks again,
J.W.
