I have an idea for a "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" course, but I'm not a fast designer and have my hands full with the Web contest course. Hate to say it, but I probably wouldn't even be able to start this til mid June. Well depending on how much progress you do make we can definitely extend the deadline - just make sure it's worth it!

It really depends on how much progress others make. I'm not going to hold the contest up.

Do you always create the plot first and then lay a golf course on it? I mainly use what the GNCD gives me and create my surrounding plot around the golf course. I've noticed that my way of doing things is not favorable on a fantasy course I know everyone has their own way of doing things, but it intrigues me. Thought everyone did a: Use whats available or blank canvas approach and then create a course and then the plot.

I published a flat blank layout, ddawgs great tip, and always start there now. I can't do the generated plot, although there is zero wrong with that, makes for some great courses out there.
I doubt I will have a course ever for this contest, sorry, you can remove my name, I don't even know where to begin and 18 would be to much to do.

I am probably a bit different to most. I start off with a flat plot using both red and blue brushes. I then tend to start off with a green complex and surroundings. I tend to play around until I find a unique style that I like with some sort of unique feature. I then build outwardly from there. Kinda course-plot-course-plot etc etc. the reason is that I don't like to be limited by initial plot decisions. I will expand outwards as rough as possible and then polish up later. For example with brumby I sketched out the beach initially, but then it evolved in shape, a river appeared in at one point and then beyond the river it ended up jutting out. That wasn't the initial plan, but it evolved that way once the course got there . On my web.com course I placed the clubhouse reasonably early but only roughly which was good cos I realised I wanted the second hole I made to be hole 9.. So it got moved! I do use auto gen to influence my choices, but that is normally just the auto gen trees and grasses. I've tried to use the auto gen hills but not settled on a course doing that since my very very first, not against the idea of doing one in the future. Btw, the plot I considered resuming I had built an 18 green in front of a castle... Considered using that mainly cos the castle is epic , built if before building my Marazion castle but this one looks better up close

Sneak Peak Looks like a real nice start drivert, obviously very difficult to comment on the fantasy-ness of the course from one screenshot but I'm liking the tiny little par 3 up the hill and the funky looking rocks in the background.

Man I am struggling to get anything going on the designer these days. So I hope this is not received as making a mockery of the contest, but the wife and kids are going out of town tomorrow and me as a buddy are getting day drunk. He's a pass out early kind of guy so when he does that and I'm good and greased I'm going to sculpt a piece of land and see what I can build on it, when I'm of a sober mind or not. Should be interesting.

I used to do most of my planting after a night out at university, cause then I'd wake up controller in hand and an extra hour or so of work done out of nowhere!!

But feel free to knock yourself out, quite literally, and make a mad one!
