Have to be honest I'm a bit puzzled by the course difficulty. Round 1 was in calm winds, round 2 got a bit breezy at times, but then I scored better 2nd round. If these conditions are reflective of the actual tournament then I'd say we're looking around -10 to -12 for the cut line. I noticed you had a difficult start but then came back strongly, I was the other way round on both rounds. Difficult to get close to some pins located at the front, but no fairway to run it from. Have to hope for a lucky bounce from the rough, or pitch/chip from beyond the flag. Can't remember any holes that could spell major disaster though. Was thinking -12 is the approx cutline I'm puzzled because I was hitting this course for -8 easy before and now I'm struggling to get 3&4 I think this course is going to come down to the putting. If your putter's on fire then you'll score very well. Like I said earlier I don't think there are any particular danger holes or dangerous pin positions (at least not on the Thurs & Fri setups)

Yeah have to agree, if your putter is on fire, you're golden! Nice course next week, pin locations are good, greens are firm for landing & bouncing on but medium speed in putting. The land short and run approach is the only way I think. Definitely a challenge

Oh right. I remember it being bright. Is it still very bright? I think I liked it...

I will still have a good practise of Manotick just in case

If I recall correctly only Thursday is overcast.
Thursday : morning, overcast Friday : mid day, clear Saturday : afternoon, clear Sunday : early evening, clear
Each round is progressively later in the day.
Sunday is the evening to simulate being in one of the final groups to finish out the tourney. Sun is going down directly behind 18th green to add to the beauty of the closing hole.

You've done a fantastic job with this course, it's a real fair test of golf without any tricks being used. I take my hat off to you Just finished the practise tour -5, -6, -5 and then -2 in re-dominantly calm winds, -18 total (if you can't add up haha). A few too many bogeys in that last round trying to go for too many tucked pins. If you're a good middle to long distance putter, then this tournament is going to be right up your alley.

At least the concrete has been painted a nice shade of green...

Just done the 1st 2 rounds on this, you beat me by 1 in round 1 and I've shot a 6 under round 2. Might be on later tonight to finish it, if not then tomorrow. Just finished up round 2, we shared the honours this time although I was 3 behind at one point. -12 through 2 for me, quite pleased with that but would like a couple more if I'm playing this for real next week. Nice trousers!

Nice trousers! Just looked at the cc-a leaderboard and unless you played the final round blindfolded, I think it's safe to say you'll be joining us next week. Well done mate, and yes I do like to dress well on the course When I was on exemption a few weeks ago, I went into the tournament early so I had no idea what score others had. I just wanted to play my own game with the sole aim of getting that card, I'm sure you'll play it the way you want though. Good luck man And I think we both will need to up our game by at least another couple of shots, to ensure making the cut next week. There again who knows what the winds will be like, they stay pretty calm throughout this practise tournament.

Thanks I managed to three putt the last in round 4 which I thought might cost me, but looks like I've got enough of a cushion. Still not counting chickens though! If I get the win do I automatically get a Web card or will I still have to make the cut?

If you win, you get your card immediately so you can play relaxed ?

If you win, you get your card immediately so you can play relaxed ? That would be nice! Although it's possible it's going to be different rules with the Matchplay on at the same time. I'll be aiming to make the cut anyway.
