Also talking about the player mastering the game etc. as key pillars of development where no grid putting probably is the most nuanced "skill" there is in the game and the one where math definately is not a factor. So nuanced that it is precieved as "impossible" when first trying it. I'm a no grid convert, used to think it was over the top - now it's the only way I play unless the grid is forced in a tourney. Produces realistic results and makes the long game much more challenging as well as you really need to stick the approach for a tap in birdie and its possible to screw up flops and chips by hitting them to that knee-knocker 6-8 feet distance. For me at least it balances the game, except for the tee-shots.
Don't see how it is exclusive. People who do not like it play with grid on? Same thing as if I set up a tourney on a course you do not like. You probably wont play it, but does that mean that the course is "excluding" people and should not be in the game? Also, does anyone really have the notion that one way is "better" than the other? Thst's silly. It's pretty much proven that the elite players dominate no aids as well (maybe with a short transition period). Is it harder? Yes. So what? The purpose of the TST is not to provide some "elite" competition - it's simply trying to give the most golf-like experience possible given the games limitations to players that like that way of playing and want to see more realistic scores.

I think the big thing about not having green grids is at that level there is some handicap just based on the system you are using. On 1080p (or 1440p) and high detail would most likely give you an edge over 900p (or lower) and medium/low detail. Then again, maybe I'm overstating the advantage of having a better visual in this case. I honestly couldn't tell you. I would love for no grids to be the standard, but then I would also want a way to easily get a dynamic 360 degree look around the hole.

It's a good point, but the same argument can be made for input devices and the swing...
Personally I don't find it that big of a difference. I play some rounds on a 60" TV and some on a 21" monitor over remote play and VGA connection (pretty much as bad as it gets), and while I prefer the big screen I think I'm at the same level from a green reading perspective. It's more about figuring out the techniques. Have the game on PC as well as PS4 and have seen X-box videos too and I can't see any disadvantage with one over the other. The PC controls for putting cam suck if playing with mouse...

Jared, you can get a 360 look around the hole. You lift the camera up/right/left/down, change camera views etc. your yellow marker is your friend. Move it around and get down to worm view.
