I'm curios about this because last few days there have been consistent crashing. Tried rolling back to an earlier video driver. Same issue.
It is quite irritating and probably the worse is that 64 bit gives me 90-100FPS but the 32 bit gives me only 45-60FPS, so there is a big difference.
I'm not really sure what the issue is. There has only been 2 NVidia drivers out in the last week and I have loaded up those two and the one before that with still an issue. It started with the game crashing on exit and steadily progressed to game crashing mid-game and now where I can't even load it up. So anyone still having these issues?

I'm pretty sure I'm currently playing on the 64-bit version without any issues (cause I didn't tamper with settings). Running on Windows 10 on iMac 27 via Bootcamp. Can you refresh my memory and remember me how to check/switch between 64/32? BTW Ron i've heard you own a pretty badass rig...and going 100FPS just confirms that May I ask you what is your setup? And your in-game settings and playing resolution. Thanks a lot; I'm planning on some more moves on my PC-side (cause the iMac graphic card is a bit old) and I'm hesitant about upgrading in a month or 2 or waiting for the infamous Pascal...

If you downloaded the normal version of The Golf Club from Steam you are on 64 bit (if your computer is 64 bit) to get on 32 bit you have to right click the Golf Club in the games in Steam and go to properties. Then click the tab that says BETA and choose 32 bit from there. I was running 130+ FPS using an Asus RoG Swift 144MHz monitor, but my new Acer Predator can only get up to 100MHz so that is my max FPS. I have an I7 5930k CPU, 2 x Asus Poseidon 980 GPU running SLI, 16 Gig Dominator Platinum DDR4 2800MHz RAM, Corsair AX1200i PSU, all water cooled and overclocked. My monitor runs at a resolution 3440 x 1440 at 100MHz. If you are going to get a new graphics card, Nvidia 900 Series. 970 if you can afford it, if not 960 will do just fine.

I was thinking about a 980Ti just to be settled for a while But I think that the 970 for the kind of games I run on PC could be more than enough. Just wanna be sure to get some 1440p love back - right now the 680MX mounted on the iMac is falling just a tad short (I'm getting 35-40FPS)...and the PC that I have at home is not even mine...so sooner or later I have to get my Mac a brother Problem is the iMac already comes with a 2.5K monitor....the PC doesn't of course About the 64-bit issues I think your system yawns when you feed him with TGC @ maximum possible settings I mean the game is crashing cause is crapping itself out in front of that hardware Anyways I'll get back to you when I'm positive that I'm running 64-bit (pretty sure I am).

A 980TI is overkill for TGC and massively expensive. If you play other games that require 4-6 GB of memory on your GPU fine, if not, save yourself some money and get a better RAM, CPU/MB.

I tried the 64 bit version again on my new machine I built last summer and it won't get past the "Continue" screen. I am not willing to mess around with my drivers (I keep them updated to the latest for other games), so I just installed the 32-bit version again and it works just fine. I am glad I did as I gave up on the game for months when it wouldn't run and now I come back to find this awesome tour and got signed up right away .

I was on the 32-bit "BETA" on PC....yesterday night I've tried to go back to the 64-bit bit "removing" the option in the BETA tab....and I had no issues at all. Is the correct way to switch from 32 to 64? It did download a little update......

I was running the 32bit up until a few weeks ago & switched back to the 64bit (same method Andrea used).
I am not having any issues and I was able to crank up a few of the settings.
System: Windows 7 nVidia M860 laptop videocard with 4gb memory.
Note: I only get about 40-35 fps but this is standard on many games for my laptop.

I also have been using the 32 biy version for the past several weeks. I tried to go back to 64 bit just this week using Andrea's method and it still crashes when loading the course. I hit advance or tee off, the loading circle goes around, stops and the game crashes. So back to 32 bit for me. Honestly, I don't see any difference in the 32 bit vs the 64 bit so no biggie as far as I'm concerned.

What I do to fix it is to load up an official hb course, then exit out to the main menu and load the tour again and it loads just fine after that. Worth a shot I guess, but you say you dont see any difference between the two versions, so take this for what its worth.

I think I average 110-ish FPS on most courses on high detail (but low tree draw distance) with my 980 Ti at 1080p. I've seen that number drop to below 45 on some of the courses, at which point I just go to medium settings and hold a constant 144 fps. Honestly I'm fine as long as the fps doesn't dip below 60 fps, at which point it becomes really noticeable. Great for other games, but I don't think TGC is optimized enough to warrant the GPU alone. With regards to the question asked in the title, 64-bit has given me problems again recently (crash on load screen) so I just end up staying on 32-bit. There was one course in particular that would always crash on 64-bit. I can't remember which PGA course it was.

Can you post the specific settings (Detail, HD Trees, Tree Distance) you use?

Just did a reformat. I can't even start the game with the 64 bit version. Stupid.

64 bit doesn't work for me at all...never has. I just run 32 and it runs fine
