Did exactly the same thing. Poor course management tbh. Just wanted to launch it, didn't think about the consequences I was all excited when I saw it was going to go on the green, then it started going up the slope on the right......ooohhhh this could be good.......and it starts coming back down......s**t roll off the green, roll off the green. To be fair, I lagged the putt to perfection, just 20 yards left of the cup This is still one of the things I don't like about The Golf Club and True Sim exaggerates this aspect further. In real life you'd never be wishing for your ball to roll off the green so that you can play a flop shot rather than be able to putt. I hope HB Studios do something about the short game soon as I really like this game (and TGC Tours) and making the flop more difficult could help make scores a little more realistic.

Hope everyone is enjoying the course, I know it's a little different with the firmness, slopes and some awkward shots but that was the intention; to do something a little different but be fair. I'm a little disappointed in myself at how 17 played though, not much of a chance to get it anywhere near the hole unless its into the wind. Filed that one into the memory bank for future designs. I ended up -32 hopefully that's good for at least a top 25, which is my goal each week. Best of luck to everyone left to play, very interested to see what kind of numbers are out there.

Not really a fan of the course bc of the firmness. It just seems like there was too much luck involved in some of the approach shots since a lot of holes didn't have to much landing area in front of the pins fir a roll up.
I still had a lot of makeable birdies that I just constantly left a foot or shorter from going in. Hopefully the putting stroke comes back so I can make a cut in this new season.

I really liked the firmness and slopes. Felt linksy and you had to plan where it would roll out too. Look forward to another course like this if you ever do another one.

Sadly I just didn't execute as well as I would have liked. Too often ended up on the wrong side of ridges, so would roll off a lot of greens (or to the bad parts of greens). Missed too many fairways. On occasion where I left myself a decent putt, I couldn't hit it. Oh well, if you'd told me that I'd make one out of my first two Euro cuts, I'd be ecstatic. On to practice Timberland. I probably could've done better with more than one practice round this time around.

The greens on this course play a lot like the real Chambers Bay. Use of the slopes is important to work your ball towards the hole. You can't attack the flags here but the greens can be held with the right shot/approach angle.
I gave it a quick playthrough with no aids and 12-15mph winds and shot a +2. Would love to see it on the TST.

Oh bumholes. Another missed cut for me I think. Round 1 was ok for me, with a 55 foot putt for eagle on 16, and a -6 total. But I just couldn't get it together on round 2. The winds really killed my attempts to get anywhere close and I really struggled to a disappointing level par finish. Not really sure how I'm going to improve my game enough to be anywhere near competitive on this tour, but I'm determined to keep trying.

Well, I can start practicing for next week as 2 triple bogeys sank my second round. I absolutely hate the 7th(?) and 17th holes pin placements. Not a fan of this layout, contrary to most.
Good luck to everyone, as I am off to the TST for more adventures in this weeks tourney.

You could give me 100 attempts to birdie that 18th and I would fail miserably each and every time, all 4 rounds I played into the rough at the right hand side of the green then flopped it close for par, kudos to anyone that made birdie there, tough hole :-)

Count me among those that likes the course. It's got slopes and firmness but it's not like it's Balwearie (for the new Euro guys, look back at that thread from the end of last season to see people really complaining about impossible greens and pins). My favorite course designed by Chris is still Shingle Creek. If you want a fun round on a fantastic looking course, give that a shot.

I actually enjoyed playing balwearie too, but am certainly aware when the firmness crosses a certain line and there's some red on the greens it's not going to be everyone's flavour. I'm just glad they gave the course a shot despite the fact that it was going to get mixed reactions.

Well, a 3rd round 68 has totally derailed any chance i had of challenging for the win.
One of those rounds where nothing (and i mean nothing) went right. Every putt burned the edge, every mistake was punished.
Recovered with a 62 in Round 4 to post -36 but can't help being a little hacked off

Made a good comeback in round 4 with a -8 but I seem to have 1 weak round every tournament at the moment.

After a rough start I ended up alright in round 1 with a -7. Round 2 it just all went to hell in a handbasket. Had about 12 lipouts, 2 balls in the water, couldn't hit anything straight. Think I finished up +2. This pic just about sums up my 2nd round. This PicI'm not sure how that lie is even possible. Seems like it's defying gravity Edit: Apparently I suck at posting pics err
