Aloha from Hawai'i everyone! Community newbie here (it's partially jimgem's fault because somehow one of his videos got suggested to me on YouTube one night and I was absolutely enthralled by the game and the fact folks could design their own courses...I don't know how there were 2 iterations of this game that I somehow missed!). I game under my tag web5770, but went with RedNU as my forum name as it is what I have used for all other sports-themed stuff for god-knows-how-long. Started the Q-school process today and it is obvious that some (and by some I mean most) of you play the game way better than I do. But this looks like an absolute blast and I'm looking forward to it. Actually bought the game back in the summer, but spent a lot of time just playing the Lidar/RCR's (so glad to see The Course at Yale added recently!) and PGA Career mode to get a feel for things. I'm in the long arduous process of building my first course...I know I've already F'd some stuff up on it, so it is anyone's guess as to whether I actually share it or just use it to get a feel for various effects and then apply the whole learning from my mistakes thing to the next one. I love to write, so there's a chance I'll go crazy posting. Then again, the call of the beach is quite strong, so who knows. Let's see, other random stuff... Q-School goal -- Don't finish dead last. I'm keeping it simple here, lol... Golf background -- Played two years of college golf before a car accident threw me in rehab and ended that (although by that point I'd decided that those childhood PGA Tour dreams were absolutely NOT happening...) Game goal -- Would love to get Ko'olau (an Oahu course with slope rating 153) in the game as a course...check out videos of it on YouTube to get a feel for the craziness. Anyhow, feel free to say hi, especially if you're sitting there going "I wonder if that's the RedNU from..." as the answer is probably yes. Peace! Welcome to TGCT! You've come to the right community for a better alternative to career mode as well as the best place to hone your designing skills. From playing the game to designing you'll find a lot of people willing to help you improve. Good luck. Hau`oli makahiki hou, Justin

I certainly agree with you on Ko'olau - I designed that course in TW08 and it was really tough. We only had 3 meter DEMS then so it was not particularly accurate but that place has so much elevation change you at least got the idea of it. As far as I know there is still not Lidar data available for it, so I think that is why it has not been done. I also worry that the huge number of data points in the Lidar would eat up a lot of plant meter and you know how much plant life there is on the course.

Oh man, I hadn't even given thought to the brutality that the plants would inflict upon the FPS rate in the game -- good point! So much uniqueness to that course wouldn't translate to the game (like the thrill of looking for your ball in waist-high grass because you overshot the green by 10-15 feet...). Props to you for designing it previously for another game! Will keep my fingers crossed for LIDAR data to appear someday...so many awesome courses here on the islands that could be done!

Just bought the game on ps4 and did the q-school (On the game not the tgctours one)
thought it was going to be easy after 3 holes as i was sitting at -1. then by the 11th hole i was +7.
managed to pull it back to +5 to qualify but i thin i need to do some practice before i try web.com. my issue is i hate practice, just want to go straight into it.
im 40 and live in australia. love playing golf but never have the time.
played golf games on computers since leaderboard golf on the commodore 64 but lost faith in them when i tried mcilroy 2017. never thought to try golf club as i always liked pga tour official ones.
loved my first impressions of this game and will probably play it daily even if its just one round

Im all good. I dont live in a fire danger area so im pretty lucky. Ill actually be playing some Fortnite on twitch tonight to raise some money for the Wildlife Sanctuary on Kangaroo Island that has burnt down.
Im currently using the beginner set and still shooting over par, so ive got a ways to go before I upgrade. im only 4 rounds in. I did shoot a 66 on the Atlantic Beach course and thought i was ready for an event. so i joined the Beginners Tour and played my first round and shot 80
Its my putting that really lets me down.
how these people are shooting -15 per game is beyond me.
when i can consistantly shoot E i will move on to pro clubs.

Yeah putting and green reading can really be a b**ch. A lot of these guys shooting those low scores are so good because they can put the ball within 10 feet of the hole on approach shots consistently. Keep at it and you will soon be able to beat me

Hi, I've played on the tours previously but unfortunately, I think in the first 'try - out' tournament for TGC2 my controller failed the api and I couldn't be bothered to continue.
Well, my partner got me TGC2019 at Christmas for Xbox, and I'm loving the new game ( though on Xbox it is pretty tough! ) I bought it for PC too and it is that I'm practising on. I use the Xbox controller on PC, just in case anyone is wondering!
After two and a half years of not playing TGC at all I'm looking forwards to playing on the tours again - god only knows on which tour it will be, but it should be fun.

Hi!
I got the game for Christmas, and I've been playing single player since then. I started with Master Clubs, so that's the only way I know to play.
I just played my first round of Q-School, and I'm shaking with adrenaline!
I practiced The Sidewinder course at least eight times over the weekend. I took the plunge and played my first official round tonight.
My warm-up round was +2, so I wasn't confident. But then I went out and shot my best round yet, -7!
The course seemed much easier than what I was practicing on.
Now I'm super pumped to play my next three rounds. This is probably a bad thing.
Anyway, I'm excited to be here! This definitely makes the game much more fun.

The greens being at 144 instead of the default speed of 171 for the first two days of the tournament definitely made the course play easier than what you would have experienced if you practiced on the default settings. Same thing happened to me as I shot a 60 in round 1 (I had a really good approach/putting day). Feeling pretty silly about my prediction for scores this week to be higher now...

My name is Tony, and I’m a Golfaholic. Been playing golf since 2000 or so and stumbled across TGC after hearing about it on the Golfer’s Journal podcast. I picked up TGC 2019 on Xbox about two months ago and was immediately hooked. When the weather’s good I play at least 3 rounds of real golf a week. It’s my hobby, passion, whatever you want to call it. There’s nothing I enjoy more than a nice walk chasing the ball around with some good friends, or alone. At this point I’m spending way more time in the course designer than I am playing actual TGC rounds, haha. I whipped up a rough little RCR of my 9 hole home course called Legion on the Hill just to be goofy with my golf buddies, published it and next thing I know there’s people from all over the world playing it... so cool. I’ve started work on my first real effort, a links-ish course called Hope Highlands. It’s still in dev and is not published yet. Huge thanks to Crazycanuck1985 for his tutorials - SO SO SO helpful. Looking forward to getting to know everyone! I’m also on The Hackers Paradise golf forum as 5150 and on The Gear Page as Tony. Cheers!

Hey folks. My name is Eric and I just finished Q-School last week. I've been placed in CC-E to start.
I've been playing golf sims for a very long time. If any of you are old enough (I'm sure some are!) to remember Links LS, you just might be familiar with me. When Links came out with their Arnold Palmer Course Designer, I went a bit bonkers with it. (The benefits of being single, no kids, a regular mid-level job, etc.) I designed the Zanzibar Golf Club and managed to win some nice accolades including user designed course of the year or something like that. (It's been just a little while since those days, so forgive me if I don't remember specifics, lol)
I've had TGC 2019 for a while but finally got a bit more serious about playing with a lull in my current main game, Destiny 2. (Yeah, they're totally different types of games. You'd be forgiven for wondering who mains a golf game and a shooter. Then you'd find out that my third main game is Civilization 6 and you'd need to be evaluated for psychological damage.)
I'm also an avid golfer IRL who's been playing since I was 5 years old and managed to get my wife addicted to golf. She's seriously bitten with the golf bug as witnessed by her vanity plates - SHEGOLF, lol. I love how TGC plays very much like real golf in terms of lie, stance and wind impacting the shot setup and type needed. The difference with TGC versus IRL for me is while I can visualize the shot type and play needed IRL, I can actually execute in TGC, lol!
In any case, happy to be competing on tour and if I can get those damn uphill putts better, I might even move up in the ranks! (No really, I played Malibu GC this past week on TGC PGA Tour and I must have had at least 2 times a round where an uphill put either came back to my feet or I powered it right off the green past the hole...)

Hi everyone. I purchased TGC2 several months ago on a PS Store sale for $8 but didn't get around to downloading it until this past weekend when I was watching some of the Honda Classic and remembered that I had bought the game. I only played about 72 holes before I decided today I wanted to go ahead and purchase TGC2019 as it is currently only $15 on the PS Store. Looking forward to firing it up when I get home from work tonight.
I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and I live in Tennessee (not near the tornadoes, thank goodness.) I found this board when I was searching for the best way to download a certain course in Georgia.
