Pretty ugly third round 86(+15). I’m getting worse before I get better. After two or three very fasts in the first two rounds combined I think the majority of my tee shots were very fast this round. Very annoying and hard to compensate for. Finally remembered to turn off the swing vibration. Sort of helpful with putting but I much prefer taking the time to get my timing back on my own. I'm starting to get a better rhythm off the tee but I think that's more due to the fittings than my own ability. My numbers are starting to climb considerably. I still have trouble aiming though. My shot choices could be a lot better. I think next week's Q-School I'll do better but don't think I'm quite close enough to get my card. That might be a few weeks still, if at all. I've now had a few rounds in practice in the mid 70s so I might have a shot.

There are certainly times when I miss the simpler days of TGC1. Being able to just put it on cruise control barely paying attention to what I was doing and post a -10 for the round.

Round 4 was not great. No consistency off the tee at all so I had no idea where it was going to end up. Lots of scrambling practice though. A couple birdies was promising but a double and triple bogey offset that. Ended the round at plus 9 for a tournament score of +40. Think I’ll be back next week.

New week. Browsed my stats from last week. Aside from round 4 my FIR% was in the 70’s so not horrible. GIR was much worse so I hope to improve that this week and get good enough putting.
Round 1 complete and GIR felt much improved. Meant a lot of aiming for the green and then dealing with long putts but it felt like a more consistent round and let me work on timing and break with putts. A lot that skimmed an edge so my score could have easily improved by several strokes with more putting practice.
Front 9 saw two bogeys and a double bogey along with six pars. Back nine started with a double bogey but was followed by consecutive birdies. A bogey followed by a birdie on 16 and 17 and I actually finished the back at even par. So a +4 to start and it felt not horrible along the way.

I started last week +5 and then went downhill from there, so my expectations are still low. However I did see glimmers of possibility at points and just aimed for a much safer round than I did last week. Much like TGC1 I already see that getting the hang of putting has the biggest learning curve but is ultimately what will improve your score the most.

R3 E (sounds better but I was -4 after 10) My gut tells me this'll be good enough to get your card if you have a decent round 4 (no worse than 4 or 5 over)

I went to casual and pulled up Lone Grove for a practice round on pin 1 and shot an 88 which is right in my 88-92 range. The fast, firm greens were a killer for me as I've been playing on 104 speed mostly. So this will probably be another week where I don't qualify. No problem. I'll just keep trying until I get an easy course. Good luck to you guys this week. Hope you get your cards.
