BackgroundIntroducing Sleepy Hollow Country Club (Upper Course), playable on PGA Tour 2K21 under the name Sleepy Hollow CC Lidar. Originally designed by C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor in 1912, Sleepy Hollow Country Club underwent a number of renovations by Tillinghast (1927) and more recently by Hanse and Bahto (2003 to 2019). The most recent retro saw the entire 18 holes rebuilt in the original Macdonald style with a number of new “template holes”, Eden, Knoll, Leven and Road, added to the original 11 Macdonald-designed holes. Today, Sleepy Hollow ranks at number 62 in Golf Digests “100 Greatest”. The ‘out-and-back’ routing features some of the best examples of Macdonald’s Redan, Punchbowl and Short “template holes” and a particularly fantastic set of par-3’s. All-in-all Sleepy Hollow is an architects’, players’ and fan-favourite and was an absolute joy to recreate in 2K21! Recreation in PGA Tour 2K21Having read many articles about the course online and viewing millions of photos of Sleepy’s iconic holes on golf-centric blogs and Instagram accounts, this was a must-do for me. This is my third attempt at a Lidar course and I hope the learnings from my previous projects (Atlantic City CC and Somerset Hills CC) can be seen here in Sleepy! Thanks to Chad’s Tool I was able to import the lidar data and begin work. As documented in previous WIP posts, the lidar data available was not recent enough to capture the work done on the 1st, 3rd, 10th, 14th, 16th and 18th greens. Several hours have been spent completely remodelling the greens to reflect the present-day course. A lot of work was also required on the bunkers, particular the greenside elements. Source material for this work has mostly been online photos (for which there are literally 1,000’s given the course design and stunning vistas - particularly around 3, 5, 15 and 16) and also using the green book provided by StrackaLine. Thank you to everyone for the positive feedback and suggestions. Playing SleepyAt 6,902 yards from the back tees this is not a long course. However, the change in elevations across the plot, interesting green complexes coupled with excellent hole design and some savage bunker placements, keep this course challenging. I recommend you play this using the default course settings (although the course does play very differently as the wind direction and speeds change). Suggest leaving the green speeds alone though. Pin placements are all realistic and are ranked as follows: - Pin set 1: Easier (standard pin setup according to the green books) Pin set 2: Harder Pin set 3: Average Pin set 4: Harder I hope you enjoy playing the course as much as I did in recreating it! As ever, feedback of any kind is welcome. Next on my list of lidar recreations is either Essex County CC or Bel-Air CC. 16th hole, "Panorama" 3rd hole, "Haunted Bridge" 3rd hole green looking back to the 16th 10th hole, "The Lake" 7th hole, "Tarry Brae" 11th hole, "Ichabod's Elbow" 15th hole, "Punchbowl" 9th hole, "Katrina's Glen" Clubhouse and practise grounds

At long last one of the greats that was missing. Like a previous post I agree if you are going to spend the time making a Lidar course make a course that has brand recognition and people want to play. Building your local 6200 yard public course is not going to attract players.

Yeah not trying to be a jerk but why would anyone care about your local muni? If you want to do it for yourself to play I guess thats fine but I think its kind of funny when people do a forum thread about it lol like okay cool

And people on these forums always seem to be open to playing new tracks - I mean, isn't that the main selling point of this game for most, the ability to play new and different courses basically each and every day? Plus, many people like to get feedback on their work, and they do so by posting here. I've seen some here even say that the first course you should design is your local muni, since it's the one you know the best and the one you're likely to feel the most confident about sharing. By posting here, others can play and offer tips on how to get better. Anyway...Sleepy Hollow looks great. Can't wat to play it later.

I'll second what Steve says above - some people have connections to their home courses and are a big part of their golfing life so recreating them is a passion project for them possibly. Oh, Sleepy Hollow looks great btw

Oh, Sleepy Hollow looks great btw Agreed with all the above. I don't often seek out LIDARs unless they're really notable courses that I've been dying to see, but a couple times now I've even stumbled on someone else's creation of a course local to me. That's always a pretty fun experience! So who cares if people like to create their local muni and promote their work? It's all for fun anyways, so no need to sh%$ on someone else's good time.

I dont think anyone did anything like that. The only thing that was said was when it comes to your local muni alot of people probably dont care. There are thousands of courses in the game and for alot of us seeing your 6000 yard local muni isnt that high on our list. I believe I stated that if your doing it for yourself thats great and fine but if you want a lot of ppl to play your course doing a Lidar of a course everyone knows is probably the way to go.
Not trying to rain on anyones parade but I stand by my comment that its far more exciting to see a well done well known course that I will never be able to play in real life as opposed to just another muni I've never heard of. This is a really great forum and site but there are some who for sure get their feelings hurt way to easy.
I mean sorry Sroel908 wasnt trying to hurt anyones feelings just making an observation that when it comes to someone designing their local muni I really do not care, to each their own.

The idea was to be complimentary to the gentleman who made Sleepy Hollow as it was a great choice and a course that almost everyone would love to play, that was all it was supposed to be.

You made a comment in relation to people posting their home courses that said you "think its kind of funny when people do a forum thread about it lol like okay cool"...I gave you the reason why people make forum threads for their 6,000-yard muni courses. They want to share the course and get feedback. Sure, it's more "exciting" to see brand name courses come through here. But in most cases, the folks that design these well-known tracks started off making their home course or a fantasy course, or something that you wouldn't be interested in, apparently. If you meant to compliment the designer of Sleepy Hollow, you should have just done that and not essentially told people who might be new here or new to designing, ready to show off their very first course, that what they're doing is a waste of time in your eyes. It was totally unnecessary. My feelings aren't hurt...I'm just saying your post was basically against what this community is (usually) about - being welcoming and open to new designers, players, etc. But this has gone on too long now, and the discussion should be about this specific course. It does look fantastic and I'm glad to have it in the game, too.

Yes sir lol your talking about the people on here like their children who cares if I said I think it's funny that people think other people care about their local Muni being ported or created in a video game? I apologize to anyone under 18 if you were offended by my comment to those over 18 I'm sure you really don't care because your adults lol good lord how soft do you think people are?

Hey Team, can we pls bring it back to this wonderful Lidar creation named Sleepy Hollow. Perhaps take the disagreements offline as we're to celebrate the designers. Anyway just played and I thought this was a fabulous course. Indeed the elevation and the greens were the highlights. Loved the variety of terrain and movement of land. That 16th Short was the highlight. What a view! Also loved the drive on 4 and the holes that run down towards the lake and back. Well done st6132 . I did enjoy your Atlantic City CC when first released and this is a wonderful addition to the course database. Thanks!

Also like to point out that my comment wasn't on a thread for a local Muni nobody cares about. I agree that might be kind of rude lol but this was on a forum for a great famous course and its the complete opposite of what you see most of the time on here and that's local Munis that most people not all don't really care about so I don't know why you feel the need to come in and save the day for all those local Muni designers because clearly I'm not going out of my way to target them. People are adults they don't need you to defend them and as an adult myself I really don't need your smarta$$ lecture

Well that's exactly what I was doing before this guy decided he needed to give me a life lesson over a harmless comment meant to agree with another poster and show appreciation for someone doing a great course that people are thrilled to see in the game

And yes your right it should be all about the course and it is an awesome course, if you want to remove all the comments not related to the course including my own of course I'd say thatd be a good move...
... Apologies to distract from the course agree that should be the case
