Partially contrarian take - loved it as I played it, honestly couldn't recall a specific hole the next day. "Greater than the sum of its parts", perhaps, and maybe that's a lesson I can take.
Excellent craftsmanship in all areas, don't get me wrong. It just never really made my eyes or mind pop as a player. As a designer & player whose craft skills are minimal on my best day, the feeling is nothing but respectful, guys.
Oh, as a JN player in the 80s-90s, I felt the vibe here. I never shared courses back then, and the '3 code wheels' copy protection is a hoot to look back on. They had better tree choices, imo, than we do today.

This is really, really good. I wasn't a fan of the lighting (I felt it was a little too bright for me), but that's personal preference Really enjoyed the environment, the golf was a ton of fun, really solid sculpting and the greens played really well. I'm not usually a fan of textures that lush, but you nailed it here. Really good course, Brian! NOTE: Just stumbled across your old website. Your stuff looked great I wasnt even alive when this course would have first been released but I really appreciated this one on my first go. Would love to see more designs from you in future, new or updated - great job!

Just finished playing and throughly enjoyed my round, it was very cool to see the evolution of the course into its current day form!
Well done desert courses are few and far between, and they are my favorite when they are well done. The work done on sculpting the mountains bordering the course is a clever backdrop for the desert and is hard to make it as natural looking as here. I also enjoyed the slopes and undulations of the fairway.
Using the clear midday lighting was also a smart choice as there’s no shadows cast from the surrounding hills. Great track!

Really enjoyed my round and was tearing it up until I got to the drivable 15th and decided to go for it. Walking off with a par brought me back to earth and then decided to roll the dice on 16 and doubled it. The course flows really well and reminds me of Palm Springs. Stark environment with highlight grass accentuated by the bright sunlight. I played a second round at dusk and I think the softer lighting brought out a lot more of the undulations on the fairways.

If I set the sun too low, the shadows cast from the mountains would end up covering many of the holes, which was problematic. Right now, the right green on the 5th holes suffers a bit from that.

BSilvernail had a sneaky look at your website last night. Gosh it brought back some wonderful memories of playing the many iterations of the many pixel golf games over the years. Especially loved your reference to Mean 18. My first experience playing computer golf along with Leaderboard Golf on an old Commodore 64 gaming system. Any plans to create a 2K21 version of The Australian Golf Club? Being an Australian myself I'm a little biased. Cheers

Edit to note above... Although my Avatar shows the Atari version of digital golf (which I believe was the very first computerised golf game ever made ??) my first experience was Mean 18.

Yeah that would make sense. Again, great work here!

We are really calling ourselves out as old timers now. It was great for the time, especially since I believe it was one of the first golf games that allowed you to create your own course designs. When I created The Australian Golf Club back in 1993, I hardly had any reference material, which was frustrating. I don't think the course ended up being very accurate. We are really lucky nowadays between Google satellite imagery and LIDAR elevation data. Speaking of that, It looks like SuperHacker_2907 did a pretty nice Lidar version of The Australian Golf Club for PGA 2K21.

I'm certainly old enough to have played Jack Nicklaus in 1993, but I don't remember doing so. Anyway, very cool PGA West style desert course!
