The absolute best tournament structure for a 64 player tournament is the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. They have four brackets of 16. They rank the teams from 1-64 (prior to expanding to 68 teams). Teams ranked 1-4 would get the top seed in each of the four brackets of 16. Teams ranked 2-8 would get the second seed in each of the four brackets of 16. And so on. Match ups within these brackets are that the top seed plays the lowest seed. The bracket is designed that the top four seeds in each bracket has the ability to advance to the round's semi-final. The brackets look like this: 1 v 16 8 v 9 5 v 12 4 v 13 3 v 14 6 v 11 7 v 10 2 v 15 Note that each line if you add up the seeds = 17 Also notice that the top seeds are in a separate mini-bracket of their own. This is the fairest style of bracket out there that I know of. It gives the top seeds the better draws but it also rewards an upset. If a 2 seed loses to a 15 seed, the 15 then has to play a 7 or 10 instead of #1 next round. I hope our 64 will be similar.

I do agree with this for most things, but the WGC is trying to enhance chances of the top players being around longer, and getting to see those top players in more rounds, even if they lose a match. And since we are following the real-life tour, we are going to be doing the same round-robin group stages. I actually kinda like this format, it also has the feel of a soccer (football) World Cup

Once the event starts it will be similar to previous years where the winner moves on.

Doyley can you confirm. Whether a structure similar to Brighttail above is.going to be used as that is the fairest way and well proven in.the past Also will there be points issued to those going out in 1st round or just second onwards? If 1st has the opportunity to play 2nd anywhere before the final then that bracket is fundamentally wrong in so many ways

Well in that case i hope you use the four brackets of 16 as a template It is designed to have the top four/eight seeds to have the easiest route to advance. I personally would love to make the finals, but I would love to see Brionne V Doyley in a Semi final!

Guys, who cares. You just have to shoot low! Just do it! Maybe not the case a new tactic similar to the 'wind waiter' can be used to scope out your opponent and see what they do. If they fail u can be abit more conservative

There's no way they will be able to face each other until the 3rd round. If players 1-16 all win their first 2 rounds, then the bracket will set up just as you have diagrammed. But there are bound to be some upsets in the first 2 rounds.

I think brighttail is on to something here, I would be all for filling out a bracket.
