Welcome to Fastnet Rock Golf Club, my 2020 TGC Rookie Design Competition entry. This course is set on the coastline of County Cork, Ireland and is based on a real lighthouse off the coast which was the last point of Ireland seen by many Irish Imigrants going to America in the 19th century. It is my take on a fusion between a Links and a Healthland Golf course. This course measuring 6997 yards from the back tees is a Par71 course featuring a variety of challenging holes mixed with holes with birdie and eagle opportunities. It has 4 tee options and 4 pins and should cater to all skill levels. I believe hitting the fairways regularly is imperative to score well on this course with most fairways measuring a fair 30-35 yards in diameter. Approach shots to the greens have a variety of options, whether to go directly at pins, use the green countours and/or bounce the ball into the green using the fairway or aprons provided. I believe it offers a challenging test of all aspects of your golf game and I sincerely hope everyone enjoys the course and the environment provided. Thank you to all who played my beta tests and provided feedback, its very much appreciated, especially b101 VctryLnSprtsErixonStone Avakrac jimgem karma4u

Good looking course, sneaky difficult. You're making nice (and rapid) improvement over your previous submissions.

Finally a course set in Cork, might as well stop the competition now as a Cork course is automatically superior to any non Cork course. Unless b101 is involved with the judging. I sense a strong anti-Cork bias with him. It’s like someone from Cork said something mean to him once or twice but I can’t believe that would ever happen. I’m old enough to remember the Fastnet race tragedy, I was only a kid at the time but I remember watching about it on the news. Anyway, I very much enjoyed the course, I did not play very well and it’s not the sort of course to have a bad swing day. Good luck in the competition.

Good luck in the competition. 😂 I'm originally from County Tipperary so I suppose us Munster men have to stick together 😁 Thanks for the best wishes. Some of those tight drives I'd recommend using the 3wood, especially for shorter Par4s as you can still reach the green with a wedge or short iron. Even for the longest Par5 I'd consider it. Can only really reach in 2 with a helpful wind and using the longer drivers and the driver/3wood for the 2nd.

Played it last night and loved the views. Great job on planting. I think it’s a challenging course for sure. I didn’t play well but think it’s a very well designed course. Good luck on the competition. I guess I must have been a little late to sign up for it this time.
