My work has started on the renovated version for 2K. I was able to obtain aerials and have now visited the site. Personally, I was very impressed with the modifications made and it seems that that is the consensus among those who follow architecture. As you can see below, the original Raynor bunkering and lines have been restored even further than the original restoration in 2000. While the greens on my previous versions have been fairly accurate (based on memory and vague mapping data), I went ahead and purchased the book on them to make sure everything is spot on. Big changes that you can see above: #4 has been restored to a Road hole #9 now features a Lion's Mouth green complex #16 is back to its Bottle fairway layout Many new bunkers have been added and they seem to be perfect for 2K driver distances... Here's an article link if you want to learn more about the project. www.golfcoursearchitecture.net/content/fazio-design-restores-seth-raynor-design-at-fox-chapelI'm anticipating having this out in a couple weeks. I'll post some WIP pics as the days go by.

I was able to rebuild the clubhouse and surrounding complexes from scratch while I waited for imagery

All of the mapping is done and shaping has started. You can use this as a guide to the actual overhead photo posted earlier.

#4 - Road This hole is basically completed. #4 underwent a drastic renovation. The large left fairway bunker was removed and replaced with spectacle bunkers in the right center fairway. Fairway width into the approach was expanded creating more opportunity for lower trajectory shots. A large mound in the rear of the green was added to act as a backboard. Considering the hole's length (485 yd Par 4), the depth of the road hole bunker is not nearly as severe as others around the country. #8 Plateau Virtually all of the steep greenside slopes have been softened around the course. To the eye, they still show similarly from distance. Playability and maintenance will improve with the measures taken by Fazio's design team. The bunkers still have the flavor that Charles Banks intended. For those that don't know, Banks worked alongside Seth Raynor on this project. Raynor created FCGC's routing but passed away before the project's completion. Banks then completed the work in 1926. The expansive right green side bunker is probably the best example of these subtle changes. #8 was originally a shorter par 5. In recent years, it was revised to be a long par 4. The approach was far too difficult to have a bunker of that measure. It's still a unique sight to see, but not quite as penal as it was last year. Most fairway bunkers were removed, with the exception of the 1 pictured below, which really is not reachable from the back tee. More to come as holes are finished...

Here are the 2 biggest changes to the course: #9 Lion's Mouth The green was always big and undulating with a large mounded spine bisecting the back portion. This green had a large punch bowl complex as well. A lion's mouth bunker has been added and there are many pin positions now available. Fringes at #2 and #9 have been expanded up the punch bowl's to maximize effect. Plenty of places for the ball to end up... #16 Bottle Old aerial photographs from the 30's revealed the original design for this hole, which had a fairway bisected by bunkers. Fairway width was almost doubled here and this is by far the biggest change to the look of the golf course from the clubhouse. 16 was always difficult in real life and it just got harder. Just about finished with the greens using PuttView. Let's just say that scores will be higher on this version. I'm trying my best to balance reality with fairness. Greens like #3 have a heat map that's almost completely orange, red and purple. The green isn't fair in real life, to be honest. It will have to be dialed back. I'm confident that this project will be 95% done today. Once I get enough play testing done on the new greens, it will be published. Only 2 tee options will be available.

Interesting that all your current pins on the Biarritz are on the back portion. Are you going to bring any to the front?

Maybe 1. Most biarritz designs lack a putting surface in front of the swale. I don't think a front pin was ever the design intent. We'll see. Should be published tomorrow if I can ever find the correct lighting.

It will be called Fox Chapel Golf Club. Now if I could find a way to keep the lighting consistent for 18 holes... Not sure why it can't just stay cloudy. Do developers know what overcast actually means?

This looks so good, and reminds me completely of the weekend I had tickets for the Senior Players there. I can't wait to play it. This was a "love at first sight" golf course for me, and I have been to many tournaments all over the country at some great courses over the years.

Unfortunately, I also have trouble getting my sun to stay behind the clouds for the entirety of a round. My cloud settings are 1.0, 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0. I mess with the fog and haze a little too until I'm happy with the look. I assume period is what determines how often the sunlight peeks through, but I've tried both ends of the spectrum and it still comes through occasionally.

Yeah Petty's right, don't touch that definition slider. Everything else is pretty safe to tinker with. The farther from 0 that slider gets, the sharper differences you'll get between when the sun pokes through and the normal lighting.
