Fairyland GC is my entry into the major design contest and is closely based on Seth Raynors Lookout Mountain GC. The first rendition of the course (Fairyland GC) is not to be judged or considered to be the final version for the contest itself, the major version will be published at later date along with the playing conditions.
The course is a par 71 that plays at 7063yds from the back tees. It is a spacious and open course that is situated right on top of a mountain which gives it plenty of elevation changes and slanted surfaces. The members version of the course represents how Lookout Mountain looks and plays during the late/early season when all the grass is dormant and only the greens are watered. This version is much more friendlier and can be enjoyed by all players of all skill levels. There are four separate tee sets, one for each club set and one for sim players, they are as follows...
White - master clubs - 7063yds Gold - players clubs - 6867yds Blue - beginner clubs - 6653yds Red - sim players - 6229
The course is a template fest as you'll probably already know. Here is the list of holes and their characteristics...
Hole 1 - Par 5 (Long) - 601yds Hole 2 - Par 4 (Valley) - 481yds Hole 3 - Par 4 (Bottle) - 444yds Hole 4 - Par 3 (Biarritz) - 220yds Hole 5 - Par 4 (Cape) - 455yds Hole 6 - Par 3 (Short) - 123yds Hole 7 - Par 4 (Maiden) - 433yds Hole 8 - Par 4 (Steamshovel) - 298yds Hole 9 - Par 5 (Lions Mouth) - 578yds Hole 10 - Par 4 (Alps) - 471yds Hole 11 - Par 4 (Knoll) - 405yds Hole 12 - Par 3 (Redan) - 190yds Hole 13 - Par 4 (Prize Dogleg) - 444yds Hole 14 - Par 4 (Leven) - 393yds Hole 15 - Par 4 (Road) - 479yds Hole 16 - Par 5 (Punchbowl) - 508yds Hole 17 - Par 3 (Eden) - 174yds Hole 18 - Par 4 (Double Plateau) - 369yds
To give you a grasp of what I was going for with this version, watch this >>>

Another beauty Joe - can always tell it's one of yours.
Think I shot 62 (in very low winds it must be said).
I find a lot of these contest courses so tricked up I'd hate to ever see them on tour. This is an exception.

Loved this. A quintessential Joe golf course - good planning met with good execution sees a birdie opportunity, whilst a bad play usually gives a recovery option with ever-increasing risk. Great example was my way of 'handling' the Lion's Mouth: missed fairway left, tried to hack 3i short of the cross bunkers, ran just through into the downslope into the bunker, consequently went long of the green and couldn't manage an up and down to a now tucked pin. Brilliant design of that hole all the way. Loved so many of the hole designs here, particularly the Leven, Eden, Biarritz (honest), Lion's Mouth, Road and Steamshovel. Will be back for many more rounds. Great work.

After playing the Burned out version the other day,had to give the Tour Version a go,Enjoyed it even more.Don't think anybody does this style of course better than you joe.Even more a pleasure to see a good shot rewarded but leave yourself above the hole or out of position could cost you a shot. It's what a major course should be Tough but fair all the best in the competition hope you do well was a pleasure to play and that can't be said for most i played in this.

I find a lot of these contest courses so tricked up I'd hate to ever see them on tour. This is an exception. From the start my aim was to try my best at building a genuinely difficult but very accessible course that doesn't require the "perfect" shot or punish good shots into greens. Thanks for playing.

Glad you find the course to be satisfactory in the playability department as i knew from the early days that it wouldn't exactly be a great looker by way of planting etc, Lookout is quite bland overall. All about the golf on this one.

I don't like to admit when I am wrong but I might be coming around on the templates....just a tad. This course is solid Joe and we will be using it as course #3 tonight on XB Alt shot. Teeing off around 8pmEST. The links will be in the shout box and I will let you know who may have streamed them here as well. Good luck in the contest.
