Didn't realise this has a finished thread. This is what I said in his WIP. Because I think he deserves praise and attention for this. I actually suggested a design contest based on this premise, would love to see some of the best designers, including a couple who have commented here, have a crack at this challenge-
Mate, this course is absolute class. You've nailed what you were trying to do.
I actually think this plays close to a championship course! It would certainly be a brute of a member's course! It has good length and the hole layouts and greens especially are excellent and tricky.
I did play on my ultra sim settings, so maybe would be "easy," on tour, but I see so many complaints about courses being tricked up on tour, so even if people went super low on this, everyone would feel they had earned whatever score they got.
Anyway, LOVED the water around holes 6-8, loved the textures, hole layouts were great, greens were great. Look was minimalist perfection. The short par 4 15th is a great hole. VERY hard to attack (would've been suicide on my settings and the wind I had) and then had a downward flop that ran away from the hole and stopped me getting my easy birdie.
My only "note" is to keep trying to perfect that art of making memorable views and holes whilst keeping it minimal/realistic.
I knew I was going to like it based off your aims and pics, but you exceeded my expectations. This course deserves attention.

Finally got to play this one post WCoD and man... yes it is parkland, yes everything is right in front of you, but by no means does it lack any bite or interest.
There is no way I’d be able to do what you did here with the framing on each hole in reserved ways like with a path or a single tree. Kudos to making a course that feels as real as my local one.

You know your framing is way better than mine! Thanks, buddy, really appreciate the kind comments. Definitely released this at the wrong time, but I'm glad it's getting some love

Hey Ben, I want to put this up in my society. What is default green firm & default green speed? Awesome stuff, thanks Rich! Greens are default at firm and very fast (187), as they are the main defence. Probably could have published at 183 or so, but that's what I was going for. Maybe drop down to fast (163) for one round? Have a play and see what you think but hope it goes down well

Thanks Ben,
We just got finished with 4 rounds @ Kaiuma, and yes, I have not gotten a chance to play it until this week, hard to believe. But the members loved it. So, I am at work this morning and a member played Hollingbourne, texted me and insisted I add to schedule when I get home. So when I saw you were the designer I know it would be good and probably have some fast greens. Probably very fast knowing you. Thanks for the quick response, I'll let you know what our members thought after the rounds. Have a great weekend my friend.

Marlette was 174, Kaiuma 157 and goodness only knows what Ganglesee was. There's not much more of a defence to the course in fairness, hence the high green speeds. Glad they enjoyed it and I'll try to pop over and catch the feedback

Another quality track from the B101 stable. Played VF/VF/VF and it handled it without a problem, no tricked up greens, no wild elevations, no bunkers in the middle of the fairway, but that doesn’t mean it was easy or boring. Pure and subtle, great job

Pure and subtle, great job Can't tell you how much I appreciate this comment. Trying to keep it varied whilst eliminating pretty much all of my crutches (there's still a river though) was really tough, but it was a lot of fun to work on the subtler side of things and I'm glad you enjoyed your round!

Played this one on PS4 just a little while ago. A few weeks ago I was going through the data base to pick a few out to play that seemed of interest and those totally lived up to expectations. I am surprised it shows only 5 or 6 plays on PS4? That’s a shame such a wonderful designed course! Great job on this one Ben! Loved how you did the bunkering. Can you do a video tutorial on how you do it sometime? Appreciate the course again!

This one ported really nicely and I think it plays miles better in the new game than it ever did in 19. Regarding the bunkers, it was pretty much entirely the mattf27 method (dig the bunkers out first, then put sand in and do some last bits of sculpting. He probably has better videos of him doing / explaining it, but I think I covered the method in this video (admittedly, for TGC19). Hope it helps and thanks for the play!

I think I saw Matt’s a while back obviously I think I missed a few key techniques. Gonna try that out on my. Ext course. Thanks again!

Ben , i loved this game in 2019 and it is even better in 2k21. As we are both from the same area , this reminds me of so many local courses . I am literally days away from pressing the button on my first ever course publish , so hopefully you get to review it as it is set in Kent also. Look out for "The Dickensian G>C Kent " in the coming days.
