Thanks for checking on us Bob. I'll know more by week's end. We're essentially stone broke at the moment. I literally have .14 cents left in my bank account. But our bills are up to date for January thanks to this incredible community and one of my brothers who also contributed. We're ok with food for now but we have no idea where our next dollar is going to come from.. To update where we are with SSA, my caseworker said they will expedite my benefits after my Dr appointment on Wednesday with a pulmonologist if he confirms the COPD test results I gave to them already. I have no reason to believe he will not confirm it. But I don't have a lot of trust that SSA's definition of "expedite" is the same as mine. We'll see. My wife's claim for her benefits is still in appeal. I still don't understand why hers is taking so long. She's provided updated neurology info for her case also but she has a different caseworker who deals with the appeal attorney. Let's hope my caseworker at SSA keeps her word and does right by us after I see the doctor on Wednesday. If that happens we'll be fine for February and beyond. If not, well..... i dunno :-|

I don’t know you or your wife but I sincerely hope you guys will be ok. I can’t understand how a country as rich as yours allows its citizens to become bankrupt and homeless because you get sick. I can’t comprehend why universal health care is not something automatic. How it divides your country so deeply. Why?? I’m in Canada and yes, we may wait a bit longer to get treatment, but at least I know I won’t become destitute.
What’s happening to you and millions others in the USA is a violation of human rights. It truly is.

Our problem became a sudden lack of income. We went from things being so good to being so bad so quickly..... I don't even know man. What do people do in Canada when this happens? When the afflictions result in a disability the prevents the person from work? How do they make ends meet when the paychecks come to a sudden stop? How long do they have to wait for it? I'd really love to know the answer to those questions from someone who lives there if you could (or any other Canadians here).

Updating the update @swaeromotion : I went to a pulmonologist today. He agreed with the function test results i had. I talked to the SSA caseworker when I got home and told her she can send her request for the report. Now I'll see what their definition of expedite it.

This is Alberta's (which has a good, easy to understand, summary): www.alberta.ca/aish.aspxWhile I don't know how long it takes to actually get on AISH, I do know it's helped a lot of people that can't earn a living like they used to. I only wish something like this was available to you, buddy. Hang in there 💪

A quick google for AISH wait time shows about 6 months but there is also some help available while waiting. That is the bridge we are missing.
Our answer is to become a beggar. Beg family. Beg friends. Beg churches. Beg the internet. Beg video game golfers. And good luck while you wait.
I’m a bit on edge, apologize for any rants. Our cell service was shut off today smh. Caught us off guard. We thought we had another week to work that out. Let the madness for February begin early.

Any more updates on this month? How close are you guys to avoiding the eviction notice? With the recent donations over the weekend and a hand from a family member, it looks like we're going to have February covered, including our utilities and car insurance Thank you to everyone, we would have absolutely been homeless by now if it wasn't for this community. We have no idea how to thank you all for the generosity and kindness you have provided to us. I may have to look into what ti takes to get charity game streaming going if SSA continues to jack us around through for March. My issue with that is this COPD crap has made it difficult for me to talk extensively. We'll cross that bridge if we get to it I guess. Thank you everyone, you have no idea how much of an impact you have had.

What do you need for March?

What do you need for March? I need SSA to stop fiddling around and pay up lol. Outside of that, our monthly cost of living for my wife and I runs between $1800 - $2000 a month. $1480 of that is rent plus utilities, gas, etc. Our lease at this overpriced complex expires at the end of March. We can get another apartment down the street that is nicer with updated everything for $500 less per month but of course we have to show a proof of income. This apartment we are in now was $950 a month when we first moved in 9 years ago. The rent rape with these clowns has been horrible. Hopefully we can get back to a sustainable amount again if SSA can step up. We will see how it goes.

So here is a good news / bad news update. But mostly good news.
Good news: SSA called me today and said they had reviewed the medical records and have approved my benefit claim.
Bad news: There aren't retroactively paying back from July 2019 and the monthly amount is about $400 less than I expected.
But ok. At least we have something now while we wait on my wife's appeal. Not sure how we are going to make $1125 a month work but it is still better than the $0 we were at.
Thank you all so much for helping us through this incredible war. We wold have never won this battle without you all keeping us afloat.
Today I rest and ease my worried mind and tomorrow we continue the fight for the retro and my wife's appeal.
