I only have this to say... When it comes to Arthur Vandelay, there can be only one. More like this if you ask me... Oh, Carol.... youโre good... very, very good ๐

Loftyando bogeymanI just read that a half a billion animals have died in the fires down there. It did not say how many people had died. Are you close to any of this? According to this, arsonists have set these fires. True?

According to this, arsonists have set these fires. True? Yeah where do I start Bill? News services in Oz are covering this 24/7 and the devastation has been catastrophic. I believe a dozen or so people have lost their lives (including a few firefighters) but there are many more unaccounted for. The worst hit area is the East Coast (I'm in the West) so Leon would be closer than me. We've had our share but nothing like over there. A few have been deliberately lit (there's no shortage of idiots here like anywhere else) but most are the result of what they call "dry lightening" storms. Storms where there's lots of lightening but no rain. Combine this with high winds and 40+ degree C temperatures and it's a recipe for disaster. Hundreds and hundreds of homes have been lost and livestock and wildlife losses have been unbelievable. World responses to this disaster have been fantastic and apparently lots of money has been donated to the cause. I just hope this money finds its way to the right people and that firefighting generally gets more resources going forward.

Awful what's going on there, hope it gets a lot better, really quickly. Stay safe, Aussie friends.

According to this, arsonists have set these fires. True? I'm ok Bill, we haven't had any bushfires up in North Qld. It's predominantly in South East Australia in the states of New South Wales and Victoria but all states have had fires. I just can't believe the devastation that has been caused. It is estimated 8.4 million hectares have been burnt, over 2500 buildings destroyed (1900 homes). The scariest part is we are only 1 month into our fire season.

Thanks guys for the donations, a lot of people really in need atm, I'm only about 50kms away from one of fires, but were pretty safe where we are, and not being affected by them thank god, air quality is pretty piss poor but other than that were all good, had some embers last week dropping around here but with the rain we have had in the last 2 days things have calmed down a bit.
