I'm sure most people here have heard about Topgolf. If you haven't, check it out here: topgolf.com/us/
Basically, it's like a modern day bowling alley but for golf (food/drink service, party atmosphere, electronic scoring, 99% of players are really bad...)
I have an idea to make Topgolf in the designer. I want to get it as close to the real thing as possible and have a pretty clear plan in mind. Should be a ton of fun for groups of golfers to play together.
But before I go wasting my time on something no one will want to play... I want to gauge initial interest.
Also if this sort of thing has been done (and by done, I mean done well) already, let me know.

I see a large lake with circular islands. All holes will be par 2 ranging from about 25 yards to about 260 Each island will have an outer circle and an inner circle divided by a short wall The inner circle will funnel to the cup in the middle The outer circle will slope away from the inner circle (so the ball won't get stuck right next to the wall ensuring an easy chip in over said wall to finish each hole if the inner circle is missed)
That's the general idea anyway

How do you think it will work though, its basically a driving range with targets, how will you make that in the designer, in order to hit ball after ball, and then have points add up.

There can't be points like real Topgolf. The basis of the scoring will still have to be to shoot as low of a score as possible. You can still play against friends like in real Topgolf, it'll just be who can shoot the lower score. I can put all the tee boxes in the exact same spot so for 18 shots you have the opportunity to hit to different targets playing from the same location. It can't be a perfect recreation but I think I can get it close enough so it's like a fun minigame for people to play. I can keep a table on here of lowest scores so TGC members can try to get the record score and whatnot. We could also hold head-to-head tournaments

Sounds like Topgolf is more fun with friends and some beers, rather than on a sofa with a controller.

I would love to actually go to one of these to see how I really stack up to the population, but the nearest one is hours away in Jersey. You'd think at least Westchester has one.
