No thread for this week so going to start one. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes here. Will delete if you want. So I self flagellated..err I mean demoted to BGCT since I am done fighting with Magnolia Clubs. I went down the street and took the one of the old ladys knitting needles (she can keep one) and her cats and told her not to make any noise (the clicking of those damn needles is annoying) while I was playing my rounds. If she behaved she gets her knitting needle back and her cats. Hard just jumping back into this game without any practice. Don't play this game much if at all. Found it difficult to get used to beginner clubs. Not one very fast to be found, but lots of slows and very slows. Didn't do too great this tournament but did end under par. I do love the no pressure or stress of worry about demotion marks. Nice to just play and enjoy it. I will admit I'm a flicker. I flicked my finger at the screen so many times when making bogey or just listening to John and his new found phrase "too much club" Since you guys like charts and detailed scoring reports here is mine. And this little gem I updated my graphics driver, which of course wiped out all my settings for screenshots and replay hot keys in Gforce Experience. I remapped everything or so I thought. Went to take a recording of something while playing, apparently the key I mapped is also used the in game camera settings and I wound up turning off the HUD. Played 2 shots like this until I dug in and figured out how to get my HUD back. Again sorry to overstep here and create this thread. Just say the word and I'll delete it.

I'll be breaking in a brand new controller this week. So if I score horribly it's the controller's fault. And if I score well it's the controller's fault.

After just finishing an event that played fairly long with beginner clubs I wasn't really excited to get another one right away, especially with the very frequent 11 or 12 mph headwind. I think it was 4 par 4's on the course around 500 yds. and two that I couldn't reach in these winds. I'm not one to complain but last week started to grind on me with the length well before hole 72 and round 1 felt worse to me than any round last week so right now I'm not really looking forward to another 54 holes of this. Would have been so much nicer to have at least one week in between where we played a course better suited for beginner clubs.
In the end I squeaked out par on the unreachable holes but let the short par 4 17th ruin my round with a double bogey to drop me down to -5 for the day.

I know and I don't totally hate long courses but playing them back-to-back isn't the greatest. Would be nice to see some shorter, more technical courses with narrow winding fairways requiring precision tee shots or layups but while that would work for a lot of the BCT players it wouldn't for the CCAm'ers. Not an ideal situation as BCT probably has the most unique set of criteria that could be used when selecting courses specifically for it but it's unable to be catered to because of the CCAm restrictions. Plus, even if you could it's not like there's many designers out there that are making courses that are intended to play best with beginner clubs.

In my eagerness to get this done and over with I played round 2 as well. Wind is much less a factor so that helped. However, in the end I once again stepped up to 17 sitting at -7 and instead of the double bogey last time I got a birdie and that was the only difference in my score from round 1 to round 2.

Well, not going to contend this week at all.
I typically play all my rounds quickly Sunday morning. This week I had to catch a flight and was planning on just getting my first round in. I played fairly well, nothing great, and ended in -12. Quick check of the clock and thought I had time to get a 2nd round in as well. I should have just stopped while I was ahead.
An early bogie in round two left me scrambling to get back to even par. I managed a few more until I reached the short par-4 8th. That's when I had my Tin-Cup moment trying to drive the green around the trees. A couple of balls into the drink and a frustrated poor chip left me with a triple bogie. I stopped playing, packed, and headed to the airport.
Got back this evening and decided to finish up. Played pretty good back 9 of round 2 to get a respectable score up, but well back of where the leaders will be.
Had a great round 3 when I played speed golf and didn't even notice my score until the end. I tried to concentrate again in R4 but should have just kept the rapid-fire approach in R3.
More bogies and worse this tournament than I think I've had all season. If I hadn't putted out of my mind, it would have been a lot worse. I think I made 3+ 30 footers to save par.
As for the course, I agree this was not a good setup for beginner clubs. Too many really long approaches that just didn't fit the clubs, especially with the green designs sloping off the back. Maybe it was poor course management by me, but I had a number of shots where the choice was either come up way short or bounce way off the back of the green. Add to that the un-reachable holes and it got a little tiresome. That being said, I think this course would play really well for Pro clubs.
Best of luck everyone left to play.

Indeed, very true Boffo. Although the schedulers do a great job at mixing it up, we actually asked HB for another society slot so that the BCT could be on its own. Guess how that went? (hint: here we are, still using the same society slot as CC-Am).
There was even talk of renaming the tour so that the word "Beginner" wasn't part of the name. Unfortunately, that idea also got put on the back burner when we couldn't get momentum to make additional changes with societies.
Just imagine, you could've been playing on the British Columbia Tour this year!

Or the Bill Clinton Tour.
Round 3 would have been more of the exact same except my putter came to play and gave me 3 strokes I had no right to get. Peaceful winds helped as best they could and I ended up -11.

Looks like I could be having one of my best tournaments as I’m currently in 3rd place (at the time of posting) and was looking forward to playing my last two rounds tomorrow evening and then this morning I lost my internet & my phone line connection at home and an engineer won’t be available for 3-5 working days to fix it. So gonna be touch & go as to whether or not I get to finish the event…..damn those golfing gods!

I will say that one benefit of these longer courses is that the scores have been kept lower and the field as a whole has been more competitive the last two weeks. It's just too bad the only way this can happen is if the course includes plenty of 200+ yd approach shots.

After my first round, all I can say is yuck! Two double bogeys and a bogey on 18 ruined any shot I had of keeping the momentum going. Otherwise, I had a decent round going. YUCK!
