This is the first time I have had a course used for a tournament and I just wanted to welcome you all to BellaWood Plantation. I have been playing with TGCT for about 5 years now and I realize that tournament week brings ups and downs, complaints and compliments about the courses, and a little bickering and a little complimenting. I hope that you all find at weeks end though that you had a good time and that it was a competitive tourney. I would also like to say how honored I am that the tournament BellaWood is hosting is Eli’s Tournament. If you aren’t aware, through his Dad Jason (Irving R. Levine) , Eli has been a big part and fan of TGCT over the years with his creative course design, all around support, occasional cameo on the old podcast, and the awareness he has brought of things bigger in life. In this week of thanks I would also like to say thanks to this great community we have created and to all that work so hard to keep it going. At tourneys end let’s meet in the clubhouse bar and raise a toast to Eli and TGCT. Here is to a fun week of golfing friends....Keep it in the fairway! Cheers. If you would like to learn more and maybe make a donation some time here is a link: www.autismspeaks.orgPlease make it in Eli’s name.

You're not a real TGC designer until complete strangers loudly complain about your course. But in all seriousness, congrats!

With all the amazing designers in this community not sure I will be ever able to claim “real designer” status anyways but I have put my thick skin on for the week in anticipation of what may lie ahead lol. Thanks. Hope you are well. Cheers!

Nah, you have nothing to worry about. The course is well done. I personally think a course for this level of flights is the most difficult because you have the potential for all 3 club sets to play it.
For the beginner clubs, only one hole in the 4th round was not a great set up (couldn't reach par 4 18th in regulation with the wind). That's no big deal to be honest - happens to us beginner club folks often enough. Not awesome as the 72nd hole with only a pitch/flop chance at birdie if I'm being honest, but oh well.
I have no idea how to design a course, so this is not a complaint as much as a question. I mentioned this in the spoiler writeup as well - the default distances were often off for approach shots. Almost like it thought the hole was somewhere else on the green. I wouldn't have clue why something like that happens though. I would expect players to be making adjustments anyways, but it was just a bit odd.
Kudos to you for the course and the nice message on why this tournament is named as it is.

Thank you Yaters for the kind words. As far as the distances things go we aren’t sure what happened. Never occurred in the designer and when I had G-dog and Victory beta test it and it didn’t happen to them either. Only on the finished version after I published it did it occur. It has bothered me to no extent since it happened but my hands were tied. As far as the 72nd hole problem I know that 18 was suppose to be a par 5 but again a issue during publishing I suppose or a mistake on my part that I missed. Again thanks for the kind words and I hope you have a great week. Cheers!

This post made me realize that I miss the days when you would regularly see the course designer come by the spoiler threads and introduce the course.
It is certainly a weird course at this level because it really felt like it wasn't designed with beginners clubs in mind, which I don't blame any designer for doing as we're too small a group to really care that much about so the distances became quite long for us many times. Despite that there were still plenty of scoring opportunities to be had out there and I enjoyed myself even though those 200ish yd. approach shots started to wear on me after 72 holes. Don't often get to see that mix of challenge and scoreability in one course.

I will admit I didn’t keep the Beginner clubs in mind upon design. This is something I have learned from this lesson and will make sure I utilize in my future designs. For this I apologize. I also have been designing for 5 years so I never really thought I would get a course picked for tours so I usually just designed to my club set lol. Thank you for the advice. Have a great week and thanks again for taking the time to give me feedback. Cheers!

50-60 people play in the BCT each week. Hardly a big enough segment of the community to stress over accomodating while you design a course. I don't think any of us, beyond one person who can't make a post without whining or complaining about something has ever voiced any serious displeasure at a course clearly intended for pro clubs or higher. It's totally and completely understandable why any designer would do that.

While I wouldn't normally have scheduled this for beginners... I think you can all see why I wanted Dusty to be hosting this week

Congrats Dusty! Nice work! Well said as well! Cheers pal Thank you Curtis. I couldn’t be more proud or happy of having a course on tour. Rare air I know! I am happy to know the bar I have to aim for and I just hope people have fun and are challenged as well with the course. Never going to make everyone happy. As a great designer you know lol. Have a great Turkey day and I hope you have clear, blue skies ahead! Cheers
