Welcome to Surtsey Island, a small volcanic island just off the southern coast of Iceland. Shortly after becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008, officials determined that based on the erosion rate the only value the island could ever have would be to host a golf course. Not just any course though, but one that could host tournaments for the best golfers in the world. A par 72, 7450 yard course was crammed onto the tiny island in no time with a unique routing that includes shared fairways and tees. Some of the most demanding par 3s virtual golf has ever see are located here as well as some of the shortest par 5s that you cant seem to birdie.. Warning: This course is very difficult it even has a sign just like Bethpage! Green tees are designed for Masters Clubs Red tees are designed for pro clubs. Play with beginners at your own risk. If you choose to take the challenge, I wish you the best of luck. Hit it straight and for god's sake leave the ball below the hole. Good luck out there

This is a great course. Well thought out, and well executed. It was super challenging but never felt it was unfair. Give this one a play right now. And remember to bring master clubs, a 2w and your thinking hat.

Wow what a spectacular course. I played with a few friends and it was a neck and neck match the entire time. I shot 9 under from the back tees using master clubs. The course layout itself was very well thought out and the variety kept us interested from the first tee until the last putt.
I particularly loved how well thought out the approach shots were each green. The greens were tricky but very fair as the others stated, offering you an easy putt as long as your aim was straight and your tee shot positioning was planned ahead.
Overall, this course definitely deserves many plays and hopefully everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed playing it. Thank you for making this course!

Tourney version is released for use in your society. Also addressed a few very minor details from the original version, as well as added zombies and viewing areas for them. Additionally, a beginner club friendly tee has been added to allow you to get the full experience with those clubs, including the knee knocking approach up the hill going for eagle on 18.

How'd you find room for that stuff?

How'd you find room for that stuff? Surprisingly it went in pretty easy. Only had to sculpt around 1 green (3) took an hour tops. Adding tees was a bit more work but I regret not having done it sooner

Awesome course. Landing areas and green sculpting are well thought-out. A lazy drive, even in the fairway, will be punished with a tough angle, which I love in a course. Greens were tough but fair, provided I wasn't overly aggressive with certain approach shots. Course management is needed to go low.
My only qualms are with the stretch from 10-12. I think the holes are great, but don't think it's practical to be playing down the same fairway as another hole. I'm a fan of connected playing corridors, but I think they should be realistic.
I used pro clubs from the tips, and at times it was a struggle, but it definitely isn't unplayable with that tee/club combo. Hole 13 did have a difficult tee shot, though.
Also, 18 is one of the best finishing holes I've played on a user-designed course!

Thanks for checking it out, I agree that hole 12 probably shouldnt have happened like that but I was out of real estate and on a mission. 12 is a layup tee shot distance vs angle and that part of the fairway is usually not reachable from the 10 tee but its still a bit wonky. Pro clubs from the tips I would imagine to be exceedingly difficult. I am quite proud of 15 and 18 really, its unbelievable how easy it to walk off with a par for such short 5s, and 18 absolutely has the most daunting approach I personally have ever concieved. Thanks again for playing, im glad theres some people enjoying the more difficult courses I can't seem to NOT make!

This was a beast, love ya course and was a great challenge. Thanks for the course. That was a pretty brilliant round. Unfortunate you got out of position on 4 and 13 as those are quite unforgiving without great teeshots. I really appreciated how you talked about the pathwork on hole 8 and 9, as pathing that cliff hole was indeed a bit of an engineering marvel. Thoroughly enjoyed it and thanks again!
