Cleared out a lot of the bushes on the left hand side. Not really sure what i want to do there yet. But here's a hole mostly complete. It'll probably end up being 17 because I think i want the clubhouse in the view on the next hole. Anyway, here's three different ways to play it. Any thoughts? Ps. Don't knock my putting, i've been on 124 greens for 2 months. I like a lot of what's going on here. But, to me, this hole feels like it's shouting to connect the two fairways. If you bumped the tee box back a couple yards, so that driver carry is even with those bunkers, you'd have a very narrow gap between the traps to hit driver with the option to hit a fast and clear them. Then I'd open up the area in front a touch so that FW wood layups are a little more appealing. The key to an interesting strategic hole is making the risk/reward option have a low risk/low reward choice. There isn't a strong one of those just yet, as the layup isn't all that much easier. And just from a visual standpoint, I might bring the forward tee to the right a fair bit, just to fill that empty space between the tips and the fairway. It also lets you plant that space to the left and potentially frame the hole a little better. Sculpting, surfacing, and presentation all look top notch.

I love the look of the houses across the canal. It's so perfectly idyllic. Only thing I would suggest is adding some objects in the yards, like cars, driveways, trees, fences, etc, to make them look more natural and "lived in".

After playing some of the LIDO competition last night I had to start the first new hole in a couple months. The par 3 i have needed way too much overhauling, so starting from scratch:

I'm picturing 2 bunkers front right, and some rocks with bushes on the face of the cliff. And lowering the front of the tees to see the water.

I connected the fairways and moved the tees back, and like the way it plays much better. I slid both forward tees over to the right because it gave an angle around the bunker instead of over it, making them easier. And Ive been playing with different shapes for the tee boxes which will add some flare. You can kind of see on the par three pic. Also i've been more conscientious with the planting, as Ben, mentioned. Check for a small sample of the course at the end of the week when i publish my Lido entry. Thanks for the advice and keep it coming!

Another short video with a hole strategy i like but am not quite sure of. I want to design a dog leg left that favors a fade, but i think this is a tough sell. There's a layup option with a 2w/3w that leaves you with a blind approach. (I'll do a little sculpting to help keep the ball in the fairway). Also a slight draw with 2w/3w will put you a wedge away with a view. A driver with a draw will get you a pitch away. A driver with a fade will get you even closer. I've holed out the pitch on my second attempt. The green will pitch from back right to front left. So if you are on the far left of the fairway it'll be straight uphill to the hole. The further right you are, the more right to left the slope of the green gets. Still a lot of work to go as this hole is still in concept phase. Any thoughts?
