Quite shocked that this isn't an Australian, or even Canadian craft brew...It's from New Zealand of all places!! Watch your step Stanley!! Don't have too many!!

-24, T-10 at the moment thru 2. Tough course that seems to have had my number in past society events.
Score is a bit inflated by a lucky shot on #15 in round 1 that resulted in an albatross.
Such a brutal green and area surrounding the green that one. I was in between clubs and elected to go with a slow backswing 2W, on a line to the right of the flag and just kind of hoping for the best with all the crazy slopes but knowing they generally went right to left. I was just looking to get something to the back of the green or just off the back and leave a relatively easy up and down for birdie, be it a long putt or a chip. There just aren't any great layup spots on that hole..anywhere in flop/pitch distance leaves a sidehill shot onto a significant downslope to the hole and not much green to work with.
It was either leave a full LW/SW or knock it up close/past the hole. Risky though, pinball bounces are a real thing around that green and for the same price I could have gotten a kick hard left and ended up taking a drop with a penalty stroke. Very fortunate, huge swing on my overall score on that hole right there.
The Universe nearly corrected itself as in Rd 2 on 15 I nearly ended up taking that penalty stroke with a much less favorable bounce on my approach going for it in 2. Thankfully it just hung up in the heavy rough and I was able to get up and down for the bird.
Needless to say playing pretty well overall. Struggling a bit on the front 9 with a bogey each round but it's just a penalizing course...you can only save par with a drive in the heavy rough on a 500 yard par 4 so many times.
Haven't played 3 & 4 yet. Probably slated for Saturday morning.

^ you have no idea how happy that post makes me (re: 15th). Literally everything you described is how I intended the hole to play. Stupid good shot as well!

Adding in the albatross I've now experienced the absolute full spectrum of what can be experienced on that hole. As I said, it feels like for the EXACT same swing it could have ended up in the sh%$. It landed in the 24 inch radius that it needed to have the first bounce go forward like that. I don't claim to have that level of precision with a slow 2W on a severe red slope lie. The lack of a good pitch/flop layup spot is brilliant combined with such danger with the slopes and the nearby hazard make it a really crazy hole. I would argue even having made that shot that perhaps leaving the full LW/SW is the smartest play...but against the guys on top of this leaderboard there's no choice. Have to take a chance.

Finished at -45, fairly happy with that.
Played rounds 3 and 4 with my oldest controller as I've been all over the place of late with my newer one. The plus side with the older one is that it's easier to keep it in the blue: the problem is that I get a lot of fast downswings using it.

Bradley, Do you think tempo in general has been messed the past few months? I as well as many others have really struggled for what seems like weeks. A year ago I never remember battling it so much. Just don’t know if it’s all mental, our controllers changing over time, or something on the back end out of our control. Maybe it’s just me. 🤷🏼♂️

I can remember at the start of this season being able to actually hit the shots that I wanted to, with some confidence: I could have just lost the timing? It could be that the controllers just don't perform how they used to, I just don't really know? The fact is that the game is messing with a lot of good players, some of the very best, who love golf games are just deciding not to play at all because this game is all about the over sensitive and exploitable swing. HB have created the most inconsistent golf game of all time, tempo just doesn't work as it should because of all of the variables across systems, controllers and servers.

It’s so difficult to develop a golf game that’s reliant on the swing mechanism...and to hope it’s not susceptible to cheating. My opinion is golf games need a component of the swing but should be more about the calculations of lie, wind, course conditions, etc... There’s no such thing as perfect but this game now is so heavily contingent on the swing which can obviously be gamed that it’s kind of disheartening. However there’s no choice but to find ways to improve because I still love playing.
if only everyone sucked as badly as I suck! 😉

HB have created the most inconsistent golf game of all time, tempo just doesn't work as it should because of all of the variables across systems, controllers and servers. In the last two week I’ve been hitting the best since 2019 came out. I quit going for fasts. Only time is with my club gap and that is rare. My tempo and lines are so much better. I had developed some bad movements to generate the fasts which resulted in inconsistency over time. It’s taken about a month but I know am firmly grasping the controller and using just a pure thumb movement and I’m locked in now. Like I said to gain the speed needed for fast swings I had a looser grip which I would describe as a flail. I feel much more confident anchored to the controller. We’ll see but I really think I will turn the corner now. Now, if HB would give me a little luck back!

The only time that my tempo issues come into play is if my fps on my PC drops lol.
