Hello, I just learned about TGC Tours, signed up, and me and my playing partner and I play without the green grid, but with the lie grid, wind numbers on, and w/ Master Clubs. I was advised to sign up to play True Sim Tours which is closest to what we're used to. My handicap playing XB1 is around +8, so we're typically around -8 to +2 w/ an average of around -2 or -3. Obviously, neither me nor my partner will even be able to make a cut according to what scores I saw for KLM Open. As TrueSim Tour appears to potentially offer the most difficult playing conditions and so highest average scores this does not appear to be a venue to become involved in TGCTours for us we simply aren't good enough. Is there any other place to play here for us?
Thanks

True Sim is the right place for you, if you like to play in this way. But to be competitive is a different story. And if is true that probably a little part of the best scores you see, is obtained by guys who are not playing exactly "in the proper way" (but I don't want to bore you with this side of the story), I can assure that we have a huge number of guys really, really strong on this game. On TST..as on every other flight, the level of the competition is really high. Always. I don't know if you play by weeks or months..but I can assure that you'll improve. And if you are talented enough, you'll start soon or later to make cuts, fight for top 25 and wins. Be patient and keep to play and improve. Results will follow. Good luck

The course for the KLM was to be fair pretty easy - hence the lower than normal scores.
However, even under tougher conditions, on tricky courses, the winning scores will nearly always be -30 or better - quite simply, the top players are very good!
Just because you can't finish in the top 10, should not stop you playing the events - we have a full World Rankings, Fedex Cup, Money List etc - come along and play and just try and do as well as you can - even if that challenge is to make the cut, finish top 30 etc.
And the more you play, the better you will get....

Maybe one additional thought: Of course you can also participate in non-TST events and still keep some of the aids turned off.

Also, to create some rivalry with some guys slightly stronger than you, could help you to have always and enjoyable tournament..to find some extra motivation to play and to make some laugh and also some friend..that after all is always the best part of the whole thing.

Yeah exactly. I have a rivalry with Gavlaar most weeks on TST. None of us are going to win an event but it’s a good rivalry (although for the past 12 months he has been destroying me). My top finish this season is 21st. I look forward to playing this weeks tournament later today and trying to beat 21st place. To be fair, making the cut on TST is a real good achievement and that is always my first goal each week.

Amen oswinner . Two seasons ago it was almost a foregone conclusion of making the cut. Last year was a struggle both with my playing time and the amount of players that are participating to actually qualify for the Playoffs (which I did not make). Put a little fire and (in part) frustration back into making the cut for us mere mortals (aka cut dwellers). For the OP, I will concur by the way you describe you play TST is about as good as fit as you are going to get here. The fact that you are shooting around -3 is where the fun zone is in anyways (IMO). So I would give it a go. Don't let the low scores at the top deter you. Much more fun down near the cut line and around Luke oswinner middle of the pack.

Check out the Ultra Sim Experience society.
Details are in my sig. Its a bit more difficult than True Sim, more things are turned off, ultra realistic, so many don't want to go that far. But its fun, great group of people, and you'll rarely see many final scores less than 20 under.
I think they did a study a while back, and found that the scores in this society were about as close as you can get to the scores on the real tour.

I’m around even to -10 for a tournament on XBox, somewhere from -10 to -20 on PC, but I play on XBox because it’s more convenient to me and I like shooting realistic scores. Anyone who beats me is a dirty dirty Cheeto* in my mind, the leaderboard doesn’t matter apart from a few people I compete with.
*Ways people can be Cheetos. 1) Legit Cheet. 2) Be better than me.

Just for reference - when Ray says 'be better than him', that translates to 'be slightly less shhhiiiiiittttt than him'
Carry on.....
