Welcome BCT folk to the Road to Rio Open, played at Griffins Pointe (Tour)
Would love to hear how people’s rounds have gone here - don’t be shy.
Poor start for me back on the XB. -2 thru 7 looking at a leaderboard with bad guy Yaters leading at -15 thru 17 and good guy GreyBeard chasing hard at -11 thru 14. Are you guys even playing the same course as me - sheesh!!!
Have listened to eye of the tiger whilst rage pausing - it’s time to fark sheet up on the final 11 👉🏼👌🏻 💩 ⬆️

Birdied 8 of the last 11. Eye of the Tiger delivers, 100% of the time 👍
-10, 6 back on XB, which is probably 8 back on PC 16 back on the easy console lol.

Are you guys even playing the same course as me - sheesh!!! Hahaha...I feel the same way some times about some of the other guys......I like playing on fast greens and in medium winds and I think the planets were in alignment for round 1, finished on -13 which for me is certainly an above average round. However, round 2 was a grind as I dislike playing in high winds, won't say what my score was yet but when all said and done I was happy with it.....

Nothing much to say about my first round as I was really only paying half attention to what I was doing. Finally started getting some good approach shots for easy birdies. Made a long putt for an eagle and even threw in a bogey for good measure. In the end I impressed myself with a -12.

I'm not sure what happened this week, misjudged far too many approaches. Putting wasn't good either. Onwards to next week. Good luck everyone!

Have played R1, just waiting for the admins to pull the scores as I’d swapped from PC back to XB this week 👍
Did everyone have 25-30kph (10-15mph) winds for the first 7 holes? When I took my rage break after 7 the wind died down to 10kph for the rest of the round. I have a suspicion that when wind is default we don’t all play in the same conditions, but I’m not certain. I might jump on PC later in the week and see if it’s the same there, but if any of you can let me know that would be good.

As I was only half paying attention I can't say I'm totally certain what winds I saw in R1 but double digit winds don't sound familiar.

I have a suspicion that when wind is default we don’t all play in the same conditions, but I’m not certain. I think you’re exactly right Ray, I’ve noticed that when playing a practice round beforehand. Both wind speed and direction can be completely different from one round to the next when set to default. I’m pretty sure the wind speed I had on all holes was below 10 mph.

Had the worst possible start to this tournament. Very Fast off the tee and just inches from water (or OB) on the left side. Another fast swing from a severe sidehill lie and I went way left with an awful lie. Then another a fast on my pitch shot that went screaming past the hole, leaving me with a twisty 20-footer just for par. No idea what the crap was going on, but I was close to just packing it in and maybe getting my rounds in if I had time later in the week.
But I managed to roll in the par putt and that gave me a bit of hope. Took about 6 practice swings on the next tee to regroup. Never done that before. Even turned my controller on and off.
Scored really well the rest of the way (-16 on the last 17 holes).
I played fairly well the rest of the tournament, though not as good as round 1. Felt best in round 4 but didn't score in that one with a ton of missed putts that I was hitting in the first 3 rounds.
Been in the top 10 each week and think I'll be there again this tournament. My last round might cost me a shot at winning though.

Jumped into round 2 just hoping to follow up a good round with a non-stinker for the first time this season. Plus 2nd rounds have been mostly ugly for me this season so I wanted to change that. Ended up with a couple eagles, no bogeys, and my second straight round in the negative double digits so I'm satisfied.

Things for me to work on - Chipping. Pitching. Flopping. Starting rounds poorly. Chipping again.
Never going to win one with those glaring weaknesses.

I usually just hope that if my approach doesn't make the green it at least hits the fringe or even fairway just past the fringe so then I can putt instead of chip.

Same, but I don’t think I hit a green in the first 5 or 6 holes of R4 and didn’t look like holing one till I lucked out on one I could putt. When I play well I hit it pretty close, I’ve never practiced other than experimenting a little as I play. Might have to have a look at the chipping practice thingy to keep up with Yaters, Mark and Stig if he ever comes back.
