My rookie design is now open for play. Not quite as complete as I would like with planting around the water but I would rather leave it like it is than add to it and make it look worse. Thanks to ErixonStone for running this contest. This is my first ever course published that is not autogen. Feedback would be appreciated and I will ad pictures and a course description tomorrow when on PC.

Shame to see this one drop down a little - I thought the look was good and a real step up from designing autogen courses. I'll PM you a bit more feedback, but the hole ideas were really good and for someone just starting out, I thought the sightlines off the tee were well done. I particularly liked the stretch from 12-15 and your background work with the falls and river was nicely done. I shot abysmally (+2) and totally struggled to get used to the green speeds, but that is on me! Best of luck with the contest and hope this one gets a few more plays.

I shot a +1 on pin 1 in high winds myself but that was due to rushing through the course and not taking time to lineup putts properly.

Got a round in this evening. For me 10-13 had to be my favs..
Thought you had a nicely routed track. Planting I felt was good, not over the top, but nice and subtle. Thought it all meshed well.
Not sure if you want more details, I took a few notes for some minor things that caught my eye. PM me or let me know if you want me to just post in this thread.
Good job and good luck in the competition!

David - I just played the Golfplatz. I am trying to play all the Rookie contest entries and am proceeding along. I thought this was a well constructed, sculpted and smoothed course with a lot of interest. I managed to find a fairway bunker off of most tees, so they must be in the right places lol. It reminded me a little of my Swiss theme course Waldseen Country Club, but more polished. I think you have a contender, and wish you the best.

Private notes and feedback is always welcome. Glad you enjoyed the course. For anyone else out there, there are 23 goats on the course. I would task anyone for a bit of of fun to try and find them all.
For more course facts and pictures please visit
But the course is a fictional course set in the Bavarian Alps just west of Berchtesgarden. It is a par 72 course with 4 par 3's and 4 par 5's and 10 par 10's and is 6,667 from the tips to the centre of the greens.. There are 126 bunkers of varying sizes scattered around the course with some holes having up to 10 along the fairways and surrounding the greens.
Many holes give a clear sight line but the landing zones can be narrow in parts requiring laying up if wind is not favourable. A couple of the par 3's have smallish greens despite the length of the hole.
Course was designed to play fair to all levels giving a slight challenge to skilled players but allowing beginners a chance at a decent score. Strategy can come into play especially for masters clubs depending on wind direction especially on 9 as a tail wind can allow you to clear those bunkers and reach green in 2, but only just.
Eagles will be hard to come by as no hole should allow reaching green under regulation except for above example, but birdies a definately possible on every hole.

Thanks for the comments and feedback Matt. Enjoyed watching it. Hard to design for masters clubs and even pro when I am only on beginner. 18th had smaller green because was not meant for 2 shots to reach green and thus the the chip/pitch meant didn't need bigger green.
Bunkers were my first effort as using splines for them all and had to make them too small unlike using shapes. Greens were slower as being in Alps there would be more moisture around the slow them down and I am sick of so many courses being fast all the time.
Will certainly widen the fairway and greens on future courses. This is all about improving for me and getting feedback so it is appreciated.

I also liked the hawk circling the clubhouse, I assume to pick up the scraps after your bunkers kill a few rounds

@eichel yeah, something like that
@dian I am proud of how far I have come and already working on another course using some feedback I have already received. Did already have a lot of course on the go using various themes and at various stages of completion but may have to scrap most of them as they have similar mistakes even though I really like some of the layouts and holes.

If anyone else has more feedback I'd appreciate it. You can send me a DM if you wish. Thanks to b101 , mayday_golf83 for their messages and notes and mattf27 , Avakrac and ErixonStone for all their playthrough videos.
The more feedback I have the better so I can improve as a designer.
