Is there a difference between approved and tour worthy? Where do you see tour worthy Jeff?

Is there a difference between approved and tour worthy? Where do you see tour worthy Jeff? Under courses pull down on the main tgctours site, select 'my desgner profile' ... This will show you all of your courses and their status. As I understand it, "Approved" is acceptance into the database, which could lead to a tour selection and "Tour Worthy" is basically the same, but a higher probability of being selected to host a tour event. Of course both could also never be selected.. It all depends on the schedulers.. Though approved courses also may land in a society events as well, which could lead to more plays..

Really like the look you've got going on here. I couldn't pull it off without water on Chautauqua, but you've nailed it. Enjoyed my round and will definitely be playing again. Great course all around and good luck in the competition, Jeff!

ErixonStone thanks for the playthrough and awesome feedback. Exactly what I was looking for. BTW, the 'tongues' leading up to the greens on par3 2 and 11 were not fairway, but actually green fringe.. I will take your feedback and try to improve this course when I submit a 'Tour' version.. Thanks again!

Hey Jeff. Congrays on getting this one Tourworthy... I know you were anxious about it. Goodluck with your course Thanks Dian. Looking back now, there are a bunch of things I would've done different. TW is great and all, but I don't think it's going to amount to much.. I'm tweaking a 'Tour' version just in case, but that may never see the light of day. Especially since I don't feel very confident I'll even make the first cut in the competition. I think there are 16 better ones out there. I knew doing a triple 6 layout was risky, and ultimately think that will be my demise as I lost sight of having ample variety with the lengths. Going to start a new project and put in all the things I learned. Maybe I'm just too hard on myself, but that'll be what drives me to move forward instead of taking a step back.

IMO, it's that attitude that saw the huge amount of change between Stony Point and this one. I also think you have this lower than it should be - it definitely goes through the group for me. You've got all of the tools down and the planting was awesome (maybe open up the light on a few holes), but there's very little feedback I see that you need beyond what was on Matt's stream. One thing that really helped me was to completely change direction for my post-CC course; I went par 69 (2 fives, 5 threes), did sketches of every hole to try to work on angles and hazards and went down the template route to work on my strategic stuff. I'm not suggesting you do that, but I learnt SO much just coming up with hole ideas for that course in terms of routing, strategy, flow etc. In case you're interested in the designs, here's the WIP link: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/19934/greenstone-river-gcThat said, I really don't think you are far off, but I'd totally retain that slightly self-critical approach. There's things I'm already taking from Marlette that I know I'm going to work on and I'm eating up all of the feedback Matt and Reeb are giving - definitely picking up less new stuff than last time, but there's almost always one tip per video that resonates for me. Bit of a ramble, but yeah - this remains a really solid course and I don't see it being cut.

b101 I did much the same with sketching. I think I fell short on changing philosophy for some of the holes on the fly after I started actually laying them down. As far as lighting.. really hard to predict as conditions can be changed, but I suppose the default is what most people play when reviewing or playing a course for the first time. Anyway, It is what it is. Thanks for the kind words.

Just wanted to say that I really liked this course and thought it could have made the cut easily. I think you definitely have some of the best planting in this contest. Environment feels really natural and looks great. This is sadly not a big factor in the the first stage of judging so I would not feel too badly about that. I think this course will be played for a long time in societies and on tour. As for playability I thought it had a good vision for the style of play it requires. The course makes good use of the tight tree lines and the zigzagging fairways make good positioning vital. Hole 16 is a good example of this and I managed to make the risky draw into the right fairway and had just enough angle to make the green in two. I thought it was a genius concept and executed very well. Another thing I really enjoyed was being able to role onto the green on some of the longer holes. I always find it immensely satisfying when you have a shot that you can't quite reach but maybe if you land on the right part of the approach you can get a good role and I find this happened several times throughout the round, giving me decent birdie opportunities. I finished my round on fire with 4 birdies on the last 5 holes to help me recover some strokes after a rough start. Keep up the good work and good luck in the world cup. Go for the throat, you've got nothing to lose.

Anyway, the course is over 650 plays now, which ultimately was all I wanted...a nice course that people would enjoy playing. Not sure if it will ever make it on tour, but I've taken what I've learned and will apply it to Mulligan Quarry for the WCoD. I've got my work cut out on that one, top designers and all, but you're right, I've got nothing to lose!

I published a (Tour) version of Mulligan Grove..
Added some more definition on some holes, shortened it up a bit, and fixed 2 pins that were slightly yellow.
If you liked the original, this should be better...give it a play!!
Enjoy..

Mulligan Grove now published on 2K21
This is the 'Tour' version that was in 2019 - which was a slightly updated version to the original publish.
Hope you all enjoy!
