I don’t know what it is about The tee shot on hole 14 of the Cabernet Club, but I missed the fairway all 4 rounds lol
Happy with the tournament overall though. Especially the personal record -10 in round 3

welp, my first time actually participating and I may as well played without a putter lol..missed SO many putts on the edge, lip outs etc...I will definitely be near the bottom this week, onwards and upwards lol I'm right there with ya! I don't know what it is with this course but I've missed about 6-8 putts from within 10 feet each round... It has been a battle all week. I'm currently halfway through round 3 and I'm -2 thru 9 holes which is good considering rounds 1 and 2. I'm really hoping to get my putting together for the remainder of the tournament just to avoid a demotion mark.

The weeks you think you're going to shoot low, you don't, but then shoot well on a course you're not expecting to..such is this great game we call golf!!
Good luck in the coming weeks. May your balls fly straight and your putts drop in one!

Not "proud" of the rest of the tournament, but I can live with it.

Waiting on the email regarding demotion from D to E. Past season I did well enough on CC-D using Pro Clubs, but want to give Masters clubs a try. Pretty sure I’ll be in Z before Halloween lol.

Had a mess around on it Kevin after completing Geiranger on CC-Pro and thought it’s another masterpiece. I would however err on the side of caution on some holes. As it wasn’t a tourney round for me I went for it a couple of times and ended up looking rather stupid 😂

Hoping to get back on track this week. A little nervous since we upgraded to a 55inch tv from our 42inch. Mechanics are surprisingly different. I think I'll get my first round in tonight. Sounds like this week's course is a challenging one!
Good luck!

My putting is atrocious. I'd like to blame it on the new tv but my slump started a week or two before I got it... This course is HARD

Having not picked up my virtual clubs since June, I loaded up TGC with some renewed enthusiasm and also a bit of a concern on how my tour would go. I've never been one for practicing a course before hand, and I didn't even know if I was on Pro or Master clubs (thankfully it was Pro as I still majorly hooked a few!) I rocked up to the first tee and got a par. Not bad, I could see that course management would be key around here with the elevation changes, but the greens were quite receptive and not much wind so it was a nice setup to edge back into things.
Thankfully my putter was hot! -4 at the turn in round 1 and things were looking good. I nearly got an eagle from 150 yards on the 3rd as the ball rolled inches by the hole. Then things really kicked off on the back 9 as I shot a 27 and completed a 10 hole birdie run! I didn't drop a shot in the round and only had one penalty when I shot into water on a par 5.
Round 2 followed and although it was an encouraging score, I left much distance for birdies on a lot of holes and missed one sitter from 10 yards. A solid 64 put me at -21 and only 1 shot off the lead which is well beyond any pre-comp expectations!
Hopefully round 3 and 4 will be as fruitful!
Good luck all!

Flat out embarrassing. 4 or 5 weeks ago I was getting promotion marks. *sigh* It’s certainly not impossible to get -5 to -10 per round. Keep plugging away. We’ll tear up cc-f together lol!

My last two rounds weren't as good, a 68 and 65. Putter was very cold in R3 and there seemed a lot more movement on the greens in those two rounds but that might have just been my ball position compared to the first two rounds. Enjoyed the course, hopefully -32 will be enough to get back to CC-D. runicstarfish I can only presume there are better players in CC-D and above than the 60+ you are referring too. It also depends on the clubs, I was trying Master clubs when in CC-D, it didn't work out and I dropped down. Going back to Pro has made it easier for me personally speaking. I've also played the game since TGC1 and the mechanics are pretty similar, certainly the putting and shot distance. I did see a post years ago which helped with elevation changes and I use that now, but 30ft equates to 10-15 yards in distance, so if it's 30ft downhill take 10-15 yards off the distance. I can't remember the exact distance so I usually go short if there are no obstacles and hope the ball rolls close! As for putting, downhill putts I usually pull the marker closer to the golfer, it used to make a difference on TGC1, not sure it does now but something I always do.
