Ironically I bought TGC because I knew it provided the ability for any or all real courses to be made in the game and will now take a decent original design over the best RCR any day. I actually got around to playing TGC because of TGCT which was also the reason why I bought 2 and 2019.
I'd like to think HB would want to keep the designer in the game but I see fewer reasons why 2K would want it. Unless they can include a bare-bones version and then sell you content packs. All just unfounded speculation of course until somebody announces something.

Huh? When TGC1 came out it was pretty lacking in quality RCRs. I had it and actually started a RCR list to find good ones.
Anyway lawyers don't do sh%$ unless they are paid. They also don't do anything on their own. You tell them what to do. Trust me.
This is something way above HBs pay grade.
Anyway going to play **************** 19 pins right now!

The dual nature of ANGC is fascinating to me.
On one hand, they put on one of the best spectator events in the world, and they are leading the charge when it comes to digital golf coverage. On the other hand, the way they try to control their image, how the course is presented, and what people say about it, they are completely up their own ass.
They clearly haven't taken a page from the NBA's playbook, where while using NBA footage isn't outright encouraged, it's most often casually ignored. If fans are creating content for you, that's a good thing! If fans are recreating your golf course by hand, this means they actually care. To think some green jacket too smart for his own good is sitting in Georgia worried about golf fans thinking about his course and golf tournament in the middle of August and wants to shut it down.

"Provided the ability". I didn't buy it based on what was already available(nor could I see what was available without buying it) but with the promise of what was possible over time. The thought that it doesn't include such and such a course out of the box but it could be made at any time was enough to draw me in.

Talking to someone within HB, they said this an ANGC issue and not all courses. Another problem is that someone that will remain nameless, tweeted to the Masters twitter site about Royce's course.... I was also told that the words in the course name are the culprate. You can have an auto gen created and name it Magnolia, and it will be renamed to ******** .I am still not designing until I find out more though.

I had no option with no golf game on Xbox 1. Well minus Rory which was horrible. Without this game I would have no golf game period. Crazy in a way considering the years I played Tiger. Don't get me wrong there are some awesome non RCRs but I'm more into real courses. Just my preference. Designers make this game. End of story. They mess with that then GL to them.

I guess the Pollyanna take on this would be that 2K has secured a licensing agreement with Augusta National to include the course as one of their officially licensed courses for the next edition of the game. It does seem to be Augusta National course specific though, but I'm really surprised that they went as far as censoring the alternate course name, "Magnolia". Fortunately, I can still play Magnolia National Tour since it's still in my favorites list. Going after Magnolia National just seems to be a bit petty of ANGC to me, if they're indeed the ones behind it. Then again, it could be HBS/2K is just going an extra mile to kowtow to ANGC to get some heat off their back.

If I can remember a conversation I had once correctly, Major Danny Vaughn said before he got his officers commission, he studied law. He gave me advice on how to get out of jury duty, which luckily got cancelled. Maybe someone can get his thoughts on this. Seems like this will be a huge story on WGO tomorrow night. Tenahka_khan had studied corporate law as well. Unfortunately he has not been around since May.

... Another problem is that someone that will remain nameless, tweeted to the Masters twitter site about Royce's course.... I had seen the tweet you reference and my reaction was "Oh, I hope this doesn't poke a sleeping bear." Apparently if may have. Honestly, I'm shocked those courses went as long as the did, oblivious to the green jackets. At this point, the C&D theory from ANGC seems to be the most logical conclusion. Everything over an beyond that is just speculation. Remember, not all courses are so hyper-sensitive. Not only was Rob Collins OK w/ what jwfickett and gamesdecent were doing for their RCR/fictional hybrid of Sweetens Cove, he consulted on the project and was on the stream when they debuted the course. I feel talks of the death of the designer, RCRs and LiDAR are premature at this point, but it is a reminder to enjoy what you have, because you never know when it might be taken away.

HB knew way back when they created the first TGC that a course creator would put them in a neighborhood where this would eventually happen.
They had to have discussed this. I believe there is even an old thread over at HB somewhere in which we (players) had discussed it after the TGC1 release.
