So what Warwick Todd & yaters were talking about at the end of the Bobby Jones thread, about the possibility of a Presidents/Ryder Cup style competition, got me thinking earlier today ... and jacobkessler putting out the unofficial BCT WGR, really got my gears turning. Who says we couldn't put together some sort of informal cup-style competition following the end of season 5 for BCT? I think the biggest thing would be to gauge the interest of the BCT player base. If there's enough support for this, I think we could pull this off. I think, ideally, the field size would be 20-24 players. The template is already there from when golferdude1994 organized the Confectionery Cup & Battle of the Generations. From there, it would be a matter of getting guys to set up societies cross-platform (unless the admins would kindly let us borrow one of the official societies during one week of the offseason). If we didn't have API to automatically cull scores, what we did for Confec. & Generations is each player or pairing would get a screenshot of their scorecard and PM it to the team's lounge and event organizer. Like I said, the biggest thing would be interest. If enough people want to do this, why don't we try to set something up for the middle of the offseason (maybe Sept. 1-7 or 8-15)? If there's enough interest, I think we've got the pieces in place to make something happen. Feel free to chime in on the poll or provide feedback below. Thanks!

If it’s possible, could we name it after Divotmaker. He still appears in races on XBox for me - I miss having him around our forums. RIP big fella.
I’d like to see it as a team platform based event rather than countries. We have 3, just like America, Europe, and Internationals - it would work in my opinion.

Whatever I need to do, just let me know. I don’t have a personal society set up so could set one up for the XBox. I also have a PC account, so could maybe do it there as well if no one on PC wanted to 👍

If enough people would participate, I’d love to get something like that running!
I think the main concern would be getting players on the international team. Lots of the Americans that would fall in the top 10 are here on the forums, but taking out players from Europe, the highest ranked player other than the two Aussies we know at the top is at 27. I think we’d need help from the admin to reach the guys who aren’t on the forums, but if they’d be willing to do that, I’d love to have that happen!
I also think it would be a good idea to have two team captains and captains picks. They have to come from outside the top 10 of their specific team, so they won’t play, but it would add another level of depth to the competition.
Just some ideas- I’d be excited to see something like this happen if there’s enough interest!

Defiantly interested in this, it's something I brought up before in a pm to Victor along with majors, I'm on Xbox and PC so happy to help where I can. While my preference would be country based event, I'm not opposed to a platform style event either as I think they both could work. We might want to make a post or something in the individual societies on each platform to help spread the word so to speak.

I forgot to mention, I can set the PC event up as my society is currently empty. In order to make conditions match cross-platform, I think it would be a good idea for whoever chooses the course to also set wind conditions for each round, as if it’s left at default it won’t necessarily be the same on all 3.

I agree it may be a stretch getting numbers. I thought it would be easier to make it platform based teams for that reason. It is easy enough to post in the society that the top 10 beginner club users would likely qualify for a teams event and post a link to here. I can’t see a guy finishing in the hundreds being as keen as a guy who finishes near the top of the leaderboard.
Also would be easier to have a team environment if we’re on the same platform..

Being grouped by platform does indeed have its merits, especially for fourball and alt shot competitions (alt shot's tricky though as you can't really do that within the confines of the society and it would be hard to coordinate four players' schedules so they are all on at the same time), also the ability to stream matches becomes much easier when you're not playing with/against someone cross platform ... Only thing I don't like about teams based on platform is there are three teams, so either there's three matches going simultaneously or someone's left out.
Here's a thought though -- somewhat based upon the pod system the U.S. team employed in the 2000s. What if we had 24 players -- 8 from each platform -- and then split each platform evenly into two teams? Each side would have 4 PC, 4 PS4 and 4 XB. From there, guys on each platform would be paired with/against each other. So fourball would have 2 PS4 teams on once side playing 2 PS4 team on the other, and so on. Same with singles as you'd pit guys from the same platform against each other.

Definitely interested in something like this sounds like bct might be a permanent home for me going forward and with the rankings etc I may actually play more often.

Love the way this tour is shaping up for the future. Lots of long-standing talent from the old days down here playing now. I came to play casually and forget about the nonsense tempo issues. Things like this, rankings, etc will bring another level of interest.
I'm fine with whatever format this might take - just hope to make the team.
My only suggestion would be to keep it as simple as possible the first time through.

My only suggestion would be to keep it as simple as possible the first time through. This. If the tempo was actually responsive and consistent, it would be no problem to play in the main tours. But with a mix of the advantage PS4 players have with master clubs as well as the random “very slow” swings some people seem to get but others don’t (I believe caused by the swing simply not registering), it wasn’t fun anymore. But after joining the BCT, at least in my eyes, it feels as if we’re playing TGC1 again- and I love that. Yeah HB hasn’t been the same since Anthony left, but it’s just nice and relaxing compared to the random-at-times TGC2.

I'm trying to noodle out some details on the back end, but it looks like -- at least judging by those who have responded -- this would be something people would enjoy. I'm going do try to figure out a few more things, logistically, and then I think we can get the ball rolling.

I'm definitely behind this. This will be a lot of fun for us in the offseason.
