Much more fun in the tough conditions if you ask me. It makes the game more complex. Decisions have to be made on every shot. It's a mental battle to get through 18 holes without letting the previous shot affect the next too much. I ended up at -2 in round 1 with 2 bogies on the back 9. I always feel like I left 1 or 2 out there, but I'm sure I picked up 1 or 2 where I shouldn't have so I feel like that's about what I deserved. Could see someone getting to -8 in the first round but it will take some luck.
I feel like even par is a good score in round 1 conditions and I'm guessing the cut will be around -3 or -4 just from what I'm reading about the 2nd round conditions. It's a tough course even without the wind.

2nd round -8 and I would say I played pretty well. Started strong then hung on the back 9. It is scoreable with even 12mph wind but still tough every shot. Great course. My favorite yet. I still say cut is around -3 -4...

That first round was - painful ... I think that's the best word for it. To be relieved to get a Par ... is painful. I couldn't actually see the numbers, but I'm pretty sure that wind was Category 4 at one point!

Jumping back in this week... I tend to place better in tougher conditions, and we just played here recently for a Society tournament. (As of today) I really love this course. Let's see how much I love it by Thursday.

Once I saw the wind setting for the first round, my Care Meter went to zero before even getting to the first tee. I'm a little familiar with the course and its anorexic fairways so that extreme high wind setting probably wasn't needed to add difficulty. The course is nice but the amount of wind it can handle and still be fair is limited.
Anyways, +3 in a not-caring round 1, which makes me not care too much going into round 2 lol.
Good luck moving forward ladies and gents.

Wow. I just took a look at the hole by hole stats after the first round. I think the most over par holes I had seen before was maybe 4. After this round 1 slaughter-fest there were 10 holes that had an over par average. Crazy tough.

The wind was unreal that 1st round and to be honest, I don't think that course was designed for horizontal winds. Just to many trees in the way for that and narrow fairways to boot. Anyways, I shot even par the 1st round and -6 the second. I would not be surprised to see -4 or -5 actually make the cutline. Good luck everyone!!

Only one birdie on #10. More bogies than pars on #4. Yeeeesh. I did a practice round in v/high winds but the direction must have been different as most holes were straight into or downwind and it didn't seem THAT bad. Can't wait to give it a try for real tonight.

I struggled with round 2 more than round 1. The higher winds helped soften some of those long irons into all the long par 4. Not the case here I just couldn’t stop anything on these greens round 2. Finished -1 for a -4 at the cut. After being -4 through the first 9 round 1 that is hugely disappointing

Yup that was indeed difficult. Applause for the people under par. 3 bogeys and 1 birdie on the front 9, all pars on the back 9. Finally got one close on 18 and obviously missed it. Not complaining about the wind but (excuse alert) im just not a fan of extreme slopes around pin positions...

You know it's not going to be your week when you drive on the first hits that tree on the left. 220 yard to go with a 65% lie and a 25 mph wind in your face. Shot +4, then -6, for a -2, might sweat on the cut line, like a fat lass waiting for a doner Kebab on a friday night.

Dang. There are now 11 holes that are averaging above par. Yikes.

Not sure if -4 makes the cut but i'll be out the rest of the week and decided to play the weekend...and still round 1 was by far my best round. I just couldn't get anything going on this course even in the lighter winds. IMO the much firmer greens makes this course far harder to play than the high winds and soft greens. Didn't really help that I started off round 3 with a 3 putt bogey from about 15 feet...then a couple more 3 putts and some a couple missed birdies from inside 10 feet and my confidence on this course was completely shot. Then I was so far out of it that i started trying to be more aggressive at the pins to make some birdies...terrible idea. Finished -2 and +1 for the weekend for a -5 total. This course truly frustrated me into playing worse than i should have.
