Set in the Virginia hills is the exclusive Commonwealth Country Club. The course is a mash-up of many of my favorite mid-Atlantic golf courses - Pinehurst, Kingsmill, Harbortown, and a few others. For me, this is a course that uses more water than any other I've created. Water is in play on all but 3 holes. This is a shorter course than I'm used to - just over 7200 from the tips, but there is enough trouble to challenge anyone.
Fun fact: This course was completed (aside from some touch up work) before my CC contest course, Bastiaan Bluffs. It was hard to sit on it for a few weeks, but some last minute tweaks surely helped it. Enjoy!

I shouldn't be surprised when Chuck releases another great course, but I am. The reason why is that it's a departure from Old Henry's Shipyard, not too much on the elevation changes as Old Henry's was in parts but that gives it a more realistic feel. There are a few risk/rewards which dare you to take driver but because the length of the hole you won't be punished if you don't. The greens and fairways all felt natural and sculpted well with good opportunities to score low but a bad shot can lead to trouble.

This course deserves more plays. I played it for the first time yesterday, and on default settings, the opening four or five holes make you feel like you are out on the course at about 6.30am, with the place to yourself. Great lighting, just tbe birds chirping. Really creates a ‘real world’ feel that you were up at the crack of dawn for an early tee time.
Excellent work. 5 star favourite!

Yessir!!!!! Another beauty design Chuck! This is why Team JC picked you!! Your designs seem to capture a vibe, not only with the environment but the way you have been able to consistently create playable courses that give a variety of shots while making sense throughout. Have never had a bad experience on any of your tracks and Commonwealth is no different!! Thank you for being so involved in the team discord and being apart of the Dream Team Competition!!

early1981Thanks for the play and the comments. It's always fun to see skilled players play my courses. As a generally unskilled player, I appreciate it!

What a great course this is. Thoroughly enjoyed my round here. Well designed golf holes, good routing and a beautiful setting. If you haven't played this yet go and do so, you wont be disappointed.
Excellent job - glad you're on team JC.

Can’t say much since I’m a judge, but I loved Old Henry’s Shipyard, and to me, this one is even more enjoyable. Just another pure and clean design with all the detail of a high-quality design. Absolutely loved it, great job.

I thought I found a hidden gem by some unknown designer with hardly any plays then I searched here...Now this is a type of course that would give Platinum guys fits I think because you have to place and work tee shots, and not just fast it.
