Hey folks. Long time lurker, first time poster. I’m fairly new to the designer and I’m working on my first course at the moment, using the delta theme.
The issue I’m encountering is that the natural terrain clashes pretty harshly with the heavy rough brush/splines. On most parts of the course it’s not really that big of a deal, but the terrain changes texture throughout the map, and around holes 14-18 the natural terrain is so brown it almost looks like a desert. Anyone have any handy tips to help blend the landscape?

Hi and welcome to the form - keep asking questions and there'll be lots of folk with ideas who can chime in. There's not normally just one way with designing and this is a good example of that. Do you have any pictures that would help? In short, the answer is: it depends... With Delta in particular, it really depends on how you use it and which textures you go with (if you go to Settings -> Rough settings -> Heavy Rough Texture, you can change the colour). You can get a LOAD of variety within each theme just by changing the heavy rough texture, so have a go at that. Some, like Swiss, will be pretty much the same natural texture as heavy rough. Some, like Steppe will show a huge difference. The way I tend to view Delta is that you put heavy rough around where my treeline/planting is, so that the planting is outside of my heavy rough. You'll also notice that putting the brush over autogen trees deletes them, as this is how the game views it as well. You can then play with the heavy vs. natural texture depending on the look you are going for. Additionally, if you raise the land a bit more, you get a different 'cliff' texture and if you bury trees, you get another texture. There's loads there, just figure out what you want the land to look like and go with that. As a couple of examples from my current WIP of how you can do it in different ways. Not perfect as it needs some tidying up still, but enough to give you an idea: Round the edge of the treeline/planting. A good example in the first of how you can play with natural texture around the bunkers (some natural left to give the bunker lip): Slightly barer to bring out the sandy look:
