This week the The BCT travels to Greece for Mustang and Corvette Classic held at the Hellenic Republic Golf Links. Mike Georgiades knowing that without Darryl’s RV (BCT party central) things just wouldn’t be the same and had idea for a party bus. He reached out to his old friend ex Melbourne fruiterer Con who along with his 6 daughters Roula, Toula, Soula, Voula, Foula and Agape and 2 sons Nick and Rick had just started their own party bus service in Greece. Looks like the boys will have a party bus for the tour stop in Greece. Let the party begin, OPA!

Dom E. Nader made the trek from Tantallon Castle in his rented Fiat 500 that is in no way shape or form meant for a person of his height. He arrived early on the grounds for this week's course and after some begging and palmed Benjamin he was let on the course for a practice round.
Mr. Nader found himself bizarrely hitting nothing but straight shots with perfect tempo, as if with magic. It was however a struggle to get used to how much shorter he hit each club. Must be something weird going on in Greece he surmised en route to a -9 on his practice round. He did note that there are some high winds in the forecast which may make the course a lot tougher than it was when he got to play it ahead of time.
Now Mr. Nader must wait for his tee time so he can officially play his first rounds on the BCT. The rumor is he and Leo Nidas have bribed their way into a pairing for all 4 rounds. The nerve of these new guys coming from higher tours flaunting their previously earned cash is sickening, all the while Victor Lane and Darryl Montgomery have been forced to live in an RV together despite the latter winning seemingly every week.

News had reached the states about Mike Georgiades securing a party palace on wheels, so Victor and Darryl were definitely feeling better about the atmosphere over in Greece, but they still had no idea how they were going to get there. Thankfully, as Darryl was on the phone with old friend Scarpacci trying to get a vacant villa on the course property, Victor got a text from fellow BCT player Jeremy Mayo that he was chartering a private flight and had a few more seats available on the aircraft. It must be nice to have some money left over from the PGA Tour. Victor was once up there, but after losing his card on PGA and Euro over the last two seasons, and then struggling mightily to make cuts on Web this year, Lane had moved to the BCT for a new chance at fame, but was finding that fortune didn’t come with it. Mayo still had connections with Curtis Cockerill from their PGA days, and Curtis was a pilot in his spare time, so Jeremy hired him to fly the BCT crew over the Atlantic. The rivalry group seemed to be growing by the week, but thankfully Dom and Leo were already in Europe, so the plane only needed seats for Victor, Darryl, Hector, Brian, Jeremy, Shaun, and Daniel. The guys still weren’t sure when Terry’s BCT application would be approved so that he could play, as there seemed to be some ongoing dialogue about dress code, but it sure would be nice if that got worked out. And rumor had it that Preston, Donk, and Nick Jicklaus had flown over in John Gripmore’s private jet right after the conclusion of last week’s event so that PW3 could walk the grounds and begin his practice routine. As far as Victor could tell, it was a stacked field once again. With travel plans now secured, more good news came; Scarpacci did find a vacant villa the crew could use this week, as long as they didn’t mind the eccentric decorating style of indie songwriter turned ventriloquist Steven Wagenheim. That’s right, the guy known only as Wagtunes to most, had disappeared with his wooden doll last year, leaving a fully-furnished villa on the Greece coastline behind. Scarpacci had no issues giving Darryl the key, or letting Mike park the party bus out front, so this tournament had all the makings for a great week!

After a personal best finish last week in the Copa da Zika, Mike Georgiades grabbed an early flight to Greece for the Mustang and Corvette Classic and to make sure that the party bus was ready for fellow BCT tour members. Upon arriving at the Hellenic Republic Golf Links and receiving his tee times he noticed that favorites Jo Jo McDaniels and Brady Turner were already on course and posted impressive scores of -11 & -10 respectively.
Mike would get off to a fast start in round 1 making birdie on 1 followed by eagle on 2 then a par on 3 where the ball took an unexpected hop on the green, Bridies on 4, 5, 6, 8 & 9 would see him -8 at the turn and in great shape, He would start the back 9 with 5 straight birdies making it 7 in a row, par on 15 and 2 more birdies on 16 & 17 and he was sitting at -15 entering the final hole, a terrible tee shot would see him the bunker buried in the front slope, he would barley make it out of the bunker and would be chipping for par, the chip would come up short and he would have to settle for bogie on the last to give him a round 1 score of -14 (57).
Highlights Eagle on 2 and the strange hop on 3 below.

I stared until my eyes caused me physical pain, hoping that the effort would somehow pierce the driving rain and the slanted shadows cast by the omnipresent neon glow of the alley. No translucent corridor opened in the curtain of rose hued falling water. Her face remained an impassive smudge pointed in my direction. She was still speaking but the words made no sense. I understood them to be words but they had been passed through a sieve that left only sounds and attitude while stripping their ability as representatives of meaning and context. It was like Charlie Brown speaking with an adult in a random holiday special that culminated with a looping dance on a stage or frozen pond or some other perceived safe space for children. “Wah wah wah wah”. I’m sure the sounds were important because with each supposed syllable the gun pointed at me would twitch and thrust with menace. I shook my head sending another stream of oddly warm rain water down the back of my neck and into my shirt. The gun rose a few inches then, the inevitable line of death tracing from my navel up to somewhere between my left nostril and upper gum. Another sound came from the smudge. “WHERE!?!” I heard it...I understood it...The word had a meaning to me but no context. Dumbly I stood and watched as time slowed. The gun shook as though struck. The rain falling past the barrel turned suddenly to mist and steam. A line of red traced through the falling water and towards my fragile sinus cavity. I watched it come and could only wonder if it would hurt as much as it always looked like on TV…
With a jolt and a brief screech of rubber I came awake and grunted noisily. The plane. The ride that I had been offered so kindly. It came back all at once and filled my head with what felt like soft brie. The air tasted like the inside of a hog confinement. Maybe it was Victor’s aftershave again. At least we made it in one piece. I sat up and looked around. Everyone was watching me. Not directly...but I could see it. From the corners. From the edges. All of them watching. I knew it and they knew it. No matter. We all knew the parts we were to play and would play them for another week. All that mattered was that I had arrived. Finally.
Greece. I had questions and here there were answers. Getting those answers was my only focus. It had to be. I couldn’t afford another episode. Not here. Not now. With that in mind I reached into the bag I had stuffed under the seat in front of me. I brushed off the taco crumbs and bits of masa. Had I known Hector was in front of me I’d have just held the bag in my lap. Opening the bag I took out the small cylindrical pill bottle and shook out a handful of tablets. Before I could ingest them Darryl spoke up initiating the play once again.
“Holy crap Brian! More? You may have a problem man....I can make some calls if you want. Get you some help.”
I put on my social face and gave him a sh%$ eating grin. That was probably not the best thing to do as I still had some tablet residue in between my teeth.
“Good Lord Brian!” Darryl said. “Rince that crap outta your teeth before we get off the plane. Cameras man!”
Victor, unable to keep his pornstachiod lips shut chose that moment to join in helpfully.
“Brian...Darryl is right. You’re going to end up being Wilfred Brimley’s poster child if you keep downing those things by the handful”
I hugged my bag closer and said “You guys and your jokes. I’m fine. Let’s just go play some golf!”
“Damn skippy!” Jeremy agreed. “I can’t wait to play this one too. I hear it’s got Tic Tac Bunkers like...everywhere!”
He was right. The course was pretty interesting and the little village by the bay was as pretty as a postcard. I didn’t care. Not one whit.
My mission was all consuming. I knew that the only way to get the answers I needed was access to the upper levels at the nearby institute. And the only way to get there was to play in this tournament. That’s ok. I liked playing. The BCT may not be the flashiest place to play and the money didn’t even cover my medication...but it gave me a place to test my research. Things had gone well in the first few weeks and the project was moving forward...but I’d hit a snag.
“Don’t take it personally Brian. We just want to help. Let’s head out and get the course as fast as we can! I’m ready to hit some range balls!” Victor couldn’t help but be positive. It’s just how he’s programed. I wish I knew who had done the programming. I’d like to ask them about their methods. It’s ok though. I knew his weak spots so he was not a threat yet.
I walked down the steps and into the bright Helenic day. He was right. The range was calling. Research must be done….but first…. I walked into the terminal and found the nearest shop. I needed a refill or I’d be a mess in a few hours.
I grabbed my meds and took them to the register.
“Will that be all sir?” said the garishly vested cashier.
“Yes. Thank you”
“Ok then. Fifteen Rochers will come too….$37.50”
It’s ok. I was reimbursed for my meds....

So excited to play his first BCT tournament of his career, Leo showed up three hours before his scheduled tee time and insisted on hitting range balls the entire time.
What a fool Leo was as he’d exhausted himself before even getting to the first tee. He decided to shotgun a beer and take his customary tee shot off the beer can as a kick off to the tournament. Leo clearly got caught up in all of the hoopla before focusing on what he was actually doing because he could not make a putt to save his life.
The young gun was missing 5-6’ putts with regularity and at one point was overheard saying to his caddy “they’re not this difficult on the Euro tour”. Nobody is really sure what he meant by that comment but will assume he’s spiraled into some sort of insanity.
He’s traveled his way to a -8 overall for the day and is going to go pout in his room and reconsider his life choices.

Mike Georgiades would start his 2nd round with the lead and look build on that quickly, birdieing the 1st 2 holes and making par on holes 3 & 4, 4 more birdies on 5, 6, 8 & 9 to be -6 at the turn and in a commanding position. The back nine would see Mike’s putter go colder than a Westeros winter, only managing birdies on 14 & 16 and an unfortunate 3 putt on 18 for bogie to finish at -7 (64) -21 for the tournament thus far.

Leo showed up eager and ready to play again this round. He listened to his caddy Stelios who told him his club gaps were too big and he needed to change up his bag this round. Leo having blown all his money on beer and corn nuts the night before was forced to steal clubs from other BCT players on the practice grounds.
It wouldn’t matter for the young fool, he couldn’t hit those stolen clubs for anything and worse yet, his putter was clearly defective as it wouldn’t even putt those so called “tap ins” straight. Leo flailed his way around the course and posted a -6 for the day. He was very dejected and ready to look for membership on the Juniors Tour when he caught a glimpse of the leaderboard on his was back to his camping ground in the back yard of the BCT elites villa. He was tied with his old friend Darryl A Montgomery through two rounds!?!? How was this possible!?!? With a renewed spirit at the thought of getting paired with his buddy he stole somebody else’s granola bar and Gatorade on his way off the grounds, he was gonna eat good tonight and rest up for the weekend!

Darryl stumbled to the grounds yesterday at Hellenic ready to compete at a high level. He was the normal amount of hungover to keep things consistent even though he had traveled a great distance, was on a different body clock and had no RV in sight. He was still disheartened by his finish last week and was eager to get back in the winners circle. With some great round one scores already on the board, including a Mike Georgiades -14 (57), Darryl felt like he was already behind the 8-ball. He also was confused a bit when he saw he was by himself on the tee sheet. Although his relationship with Victor was a bit edgy lately, he had a certain comfort level playing with him. This was yet another thing that made this week a tough mental and physical challenge. With crowds less then what he's used to, Darryl made his way to the 1st tee. He started with par, but then flopped in for eagle on the long par 5 second hole. The rest of the round would prove to be frustrating for him. He ended up with 100% FIR and 94% GIR but 27 putts prove to be way too many as he seemed to miss numerous putts by inches. He was quoted walking off the 16th green asking an official to measure the cup to see if it even conformed to BCT rules. As frustrated as he was, he finished with a substandard 63. He knew he had work to do but did he already shoot himself out of the tourney? Experts say yes, but we will see...

Victor Lane approached the 1st tee on Wednesday night recognizing that just about all of his rivals had played already this week, so the question he couldn’t avoid in his own mind was if knowing the final scores ahead of time would break his confidence during the round and put extra pressure on him. If he felt any stress, it certainly didn’t bother his tee shots, as he hit all of the fairways through 72 holes. He didn’t have his normal playing partner alongside this week, as TGC Tours had given the boys different pairings so that the fans in Greece had superstars in multiple groups. Victor got off to a nice start with birdies on holes 2, 3, and 4 before miscalculating the wind on hole 5 and sailing one over the green by 28 yards, which he failed to get up and down and made a bogey on just the fifth hole of the tournament. After a mediocre par on the sixth, Lane sat just -2 through six holes, and knowing that Mike Georgiades was already in with a hot opening round, it was time to go! After birdies on 7 and 8, Victor made a great swing on 9 and knew as soon as the ball hit the green that it was tracking for an ace. Suddenly he was right back in it with -6 at the turn and he never looked back! He would make six more birdies on the inward nine to shoot a -12 59, and although he was still two out of the lead after round one, he was ready to play some golf. Unfortunately, round two would prove to be very frustrating, not because Victor played poorly, but exactly the opposite. A strongly sustained wind blew over the course in round two, but Lane played a mistake-free round, making no bogeys and dropping seven birdies. The problem was, too many approach shots weren’t leaving good birdie chances, and the putts weren’t dropping. After an opening -12, it was gut-wrenching to only fire -7 in round two for a -19 at the halfway point. Victor would head into the third round five shots out of the lead now, as Chris Rogers put up a beautiful pair of 59s for the lead at -24. He knew he’d need to play flawless golf and make putts to have any chance now.

After 3 weeks on tour living out of a suitcase, was finally washing day for legendary former Australian cricketer that now plays golf Warwick Todd. Bath was a little chilly but had to be done. Called home to see how Mrs.Todd was going, she said one of my old cricket mates Thommo had popped over and said hi. She sounded a bit out of breath and rushed so I’ll talk to her next time.
Just missed out on top 10’s the last couple of weeks, but don’t really care about results, just enjoying the clubset and courses so far, much more fun than fighting tempo. Still lots of work to do on rollouts and the short game, but it’s nice to be able to execute them now.
Finished -39.

After rounds of 57 & 64 -21 for the tournament Mike would start off his 3rd round in 4th only 3 shots off the lead, Mike knew that he would need to be in his best form from hear on in if he had any hope of challenging for the lead.
Mike would start off his third round with 2 pars not the start he was hoping for but then on the 3rd an Eagle would give him that spark he needed, birdies on 4, 6 & 9 would see him turn for home at -5, a great par save on 10 followed by birdies on 11, 12 & 13 would now see him in position to challenge, with 3 more birdies on 15, 17 & 18 it would give him a round 60 (-11) and -32 for the tournament.
