Personally, I’d just have chipping from anywhere. The whole not getting the ball to the hole thing is crackers. I’d always back myself to have a better run at the hole from almost any position by putting it... I’d only ever chip in circumstances where the line was obstructed or I couldn’t reach the hole, but maybe that’s just me. What if you have a 60 footer that involves going over a massive red ridge to a pin cut on a downslope (and it breaks 20 feet).
If you could chip on the green you'd only have to read half of that break, and it takes half of the skill out of controlling distance to boot.
Judging distance on lag putts is one of the few things in this game that involves genuine skill/judgement. I'm more likely to hole a 10 yard chip than a big breaking 30 footer because playing the chip i only have to read the last 6 foot of green rather then the full 30 foot
If even a third of the field was chipping from outside 30 feet all the time it would make a mockery of the whole thing IMO. That just isn't Golf or anything close to it

Well my computer just refused to cooperate with this course. Probably one of three I have experienced that have done it, so it is rare. It looks like a fun, different course. Wish I was able to play it better. On to next week and The Open! Gl all.
And Jacko, I said common sense. If you can get it to the hole with a putter, use the putter. With the fact that schedulers can make the greens whatever speed they want, there should be little to no reason that even on super large greens, that there be a place you can't reach the green with max power. If the designer or the scheduler decides to make the green like that or the speed so you can't get there, then common sense says if you physically can't get it there, with max power, you should be allowed to use another club. It should not be used to avoid break of a putt that can reach the hole. Simple, eh?

Common sense isn't that common around here. And more importantly, is totally subjective. You would end up with numerous people chipping in situations where they could have reached with the putter, but claiming they used their "common sense" to determine they had to chip. And it would then be on someone else to prove them wrong in order to take any action.
Not saying their isn't a better way, but allowing people to interpret the rules as they see fit whilst they play sure as hell isn't the way.

I change my mind. Keep the same. I’ve suffered more than a few times and getting smart about it. Others need to feel the pain!

Not sure I’m worthy of posting on this elite golfer page , I’m only a low life Euro tour player with no skill or opinion , but ... if you superstars are continuously putting from around 100 feet , then I suggest you add a shovel to your golf bag, dig yourself a grave , and go bury yourself on the green , because low life Euro players rarely putt from 100 feet because we are far superior at approaching the pin , you bunch of big drama queen cry babies . Chipping or lobbing is not allowed on greens . Follow the rules and get your approach shots closer . Good luck shovelers

Ok, second week in a row with the crazy looking swing lines and guess what... Sitting at -33 after three rounds, top 5 for now on PS4 I still can't believe I wasted so much of my season trying to get a straight swing line, when all I had to do was just swing and adjust...SMH! The last several weeks have gone like this...MC, MC, MC...and last week was 19th, and this week hopefully even better! #comebackstoryoftheyear #justswingcrooked

Some of my lines are so crooked I even shock myself.

If I tweak it left with good tempo it goes 15ft left, if I fast a downswing it might not be on the green.

My line swings both ways, so I have a hard time correcting for it. Still as long it's happy, thats the important thing, I'm not judgemental.

After a silly bad front 9 in round 1, convinced I was missing the cut given the frame rate I was attempting to play with and the subsequent lack of "feel" and being something like -2 through 8 or 9, rallied on the back. High point was an ace on one of those par 3's, just played the slope perfectly, and finished up -11. Plodded along with another -11 in round 2, which is above my expectations for this course with my potatoPC, so I'll take it.

I’ve heard you can get into double figure frame rates on one of these...
