I'm stepping outside of the safe confines of my neighborhood on this one and venturing out into the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Here in the rugged hills and rolling plains, you'll find incredible vistas filled with wildflowers, live oaks, and plenty of exposed limestone and granite; a perfect setting for a late afternoon round of golf. I'm probably still a couplefew weeks away from publishing a finished product, but I figured I'd tease a few pictures in the meantime. Today I'll start y'all off with a bookend view of the course, the opening tee shot and the clubhouse you can look forward to throwing a couple back in after your round.

It wouldn't be the Texas Hill Country if there weren't bluebonnets, so today we look at the par 3 11th, and its visual inspiration.

The signature par 5 9th hole is my take on a cape hole. Coming in at 564 yards, it's an exciting risk-reward hole. Play it conservatively to the right and it's a 3-shotter, or be aggressive and bite off some of the lake on the left and you'll be putting yourself in position to go for it in 2. But be careful going for it in 2, not only is it a long shot carrying water up to the green, the green is heavily undulated with a high right tier and a lower left tier. Find yourself in the wrong spot on this green, and a 2-putt is far from guaranteed.

Thought I had finally come up with a name that I liked for this thing. Turns out, not only is there already a real course named The Republic, it's in pretty much the exact same place mine is set in and looks very similar to what I'm going for. At least someone else agreed that it'd be a good name? Back to the drawing board, I suppose.

Quick look at the 2 other holes my creek runs through. Here's the 12th green and the 14th tee shot.

Getting really close to publishing. Pretty pleased with how it's all coming together and excited to see what y'all think of the final product. I'd estimate that it's approximately 98.5% completed... the only problem is the object bar decided to creep its way to 100%. Rude. So I'm spending my morning deleting as much unnecessary crap as I can find. Thankfully I planted a pretty decent amount that ended up not being visible, so I should be able to finish this thing up without any real sacrifices. I'm guessing I'll have this up for y'all to play by Monday at the latest, although I won't be able to sink my teeth into it as much as I'd like today because of the Champions League Final this afternoon and a concert tonight. But soon it'll be ready! (Also I still gotta think of a #%$@ name too! Any ideas?)

Shame on the object meter, adding unnecessary crap is my favorite part. Texas course? Lone Star Country Club, Hook ‘em Horns Golf Club (if you’re even a Longhorns fan. Not sure exactly where in Texas this is located)

It's located basically in the centerish of Texas, just north of the San Antonio/Austin area.

But seriously WTF did I not think of naming it after my favorite beer? Shiner GC might be the one.

Trying to smooth out my cart path, then this thing should be good to go. I'll leave y'all with a couple last pictures before publishing. The par 5 5th and par 3 6th are my Texas twist on an iconic hole pairing.
