Here's my latest addition to the template portfolio. Southern Straits takes inspiration from Raynor's courses - Everglades Club and Lake Wales CC in Florida. Happy to finally cross the tropical theme off my list and make it a course that I enjoy.
This course is a bit of a quirky one, not aimed at tour play it measures just over 6500yds and is a par 69. The conditions are very firm and fast and the greens at a max speed of 187, this is to give the experience of golf on a scorched course. There are seventeen templates and one original hole, I'll leave you to figure that one out.
The three sets of tee's are specially meant for the three club difficulties. It's the first time I've ever done this but I was hoping maybe those who play the BGT could enjoy a course specifically built to allow for beginners clubs.
Green tee's - Masters Gold tee's - Pro Red tee's - Beginner
Here's a flyover of the course...

Packs a lot of punch for the yardage. You sir are a next level designer.
Definitely belongs on tour btw. I think it's a great fit for the pga

Beautiful course. I'm really starting to appreciate these template courses. Still find them a bit jarring visually, tho this one is more subtle, I think; the tropical theme worked really well with it. I think understanding the strategy aspect is making me enjoy playing them more too...
Was taking the course apart on the front nine and then had a disastrous back 9!

Another great job!!! I enjoy your courses very much and this one did not disappoint!! Took awhile to get used to all the palm trees...it definitely has a different look, but the golf was the main attraction. This is in the favorites file.

Only 42 plays?
You don't know what you're missing...

Played this last night and really enjoyed the layout and the look. Holed out on #8 which I incorrectly titled #4 due to the amount of beer I had consumed, Great job.

Thanks for playing. It was only a quick and casual course that wasn't ever meant for tour, but I'm seeing a few people struggle with it mostly due to blasting the ball as far as possible with notuch regard for pin positions or the green ridges. This course requires good distance control to not leave yourself with awkward puts or pitch shots into pins that are protected by slopes.

Without the thinking you'll not score very well, and that makes it interesting. Too many people in this game are just smashing the ball up the fairway and expect to be in a good spot to attack the greens.

I'm not big on the palms either, I got a little confused as to how to plant a tropical course. The first and last time I'll use this theme.

But have learnt enough about other more strategic courses, and especially from following your stuff about template courses that, if I'm concentrating, I can spot what I'm supposed to do. Defo makes the rounds more interesting and involving
