Just finished Q-School at the Moorlands Course. Great course and I had a blast playing the tourney, but really felt like I had to scratch and claw just to hang around even par. I ended up at +1 for the week which looks to have landed me in the CC-F tour. Looking at the leaderboard for CC-F, the Top 10 are all shooting -30, and everyone worse than -12 is getting negative movement marks. My score of +1 would've put me at 162 of 169 in this week's CC-F tournament. So this brings up a couple questions:
- Does it make sense that I'm being placed into a tour where my skill level and scores are going to land me near dead last and around 30 strokes behind the leaders every week?
- Am I destined to just demote out after a few tournaments, or do new players tend to improve enough to hang around in the tour they place in out of Q-School?
Let me be clear, that this is not a complaint. I really enjoy this game and the community here at TGCTours. Such an awesome concept, very well run, and adds so much to the TGC game. Just wondering how others that have gone through Q-school, placed into the tours and played for a while have faired when starting at the back of the pack.
Thanks for any input and looking forward to seeing you all out on tour!

Thanks for any input and looking forward to seeing you all out on tour! We're moving to a demote mindset than a promote mindset out of Q-School. Our CC-Z was getting the bulk of players and half of them improved greatly within a week or two - so if that happens on CC-F or G it's much better. If you demote due to hitting your skill ceiling you'll drop back to CC-Z eventually. I find that most players that shoot around par in Q-School will eventually identify their weak spots, improve fairly quickly to the point shooting 5-under per round is the norm - and after that you're off to the races. Fastest fixes to better scoring - better putting (learn how to use the putter marker north/south properly) and being able to get up/down from anywhere 50 yards in. Good luck!

Thanks for the explanation. That actually makes a ton of sense as the best way to get people to settle in with their skill potential.
Appreciate the tips on improving scoring too.

Also note that Q-School is played in the CC-Pro society which usually plays a more difficult course than what you'll play in CC-F. That alone could save you 2-3 strokes a round.

I have a related question. I played the Q- school course last week. So how do I find out where I will be placed an what course to play this next week. I didn't have very good rounds, actually they were terrible. So I may have to go through Q- school again, if so that's ok.

Email should go out in an hour or two - usually around 11am et if I recall correctly.

I hate to be a pain, I don't seem to have an email. I can replay the Q- school for this week.
