Quick non scientific poll question qithout the poll.
Should tee boxes be perfectly flat?
I ask because when I make a tee box I make sure they are as flat as can be but recently some of the courses I have been playing, the tee boxes have some white lineage happening.
Not sure if that is a good thing or a doesn't matter thing.

Almost all golf courses strive for flat tees when they are constructed. Age or negligence can change this over time.
In game, I don’t see why not to go for flat tees, but if going for a speciality course with a more rough look I guess it could make sense to tilt some of them a bit...

I think it should be flat between the tee markers but I'm not too bothered about outside that. What I think happens is that the designer uses a green surface for the tee box and might have his green speeds as moderate. But if the green speeds are changed to fast or very fast any slight slope will be emphasised by the beads on the tee box.

Had not thought of the green surface speed thingy. I use fairway brushes myself.

Unlevel tee boxes have no effect on gameplay. They should be level because the tee markers don't sit on the ground correctly otherwise, but that is a very, very minor transgression.

Had not thought of the green surface speed thingy. I use fairway brushes myself. Me too. No course I've ever played on has their tees exactly like their greens.
