Yes bob 187 163 144. Etc they are standard default greenspeeds and when you design you can change yours to make a 4th. Same with firmness. You can have loads of different firms and normals etc. Some just play crazy. You look at the putting averages at joes last week the putting was arguably better on 187s than on the 180s. If the game adjusted accurately you could set a 152 with no problem but it doesnt. How can you be objectively sure that this isn't down to you instead of moving out of the preset defaults? I mean, it is kind of obvious that it irks you, and I find that my mentality towards my round has as much of an effect than anything else. If I play free and use misses and the like to help me make adjustments, then I seem to play much better than when I get frustrated or feel "cheated" by something that happens within my round. I mean, if you go looking for something, chances are you will find it...
Am not saying at all that there isn't any truth to what you are saying. I realize that there are the presets and designers can set their default for that course somewhere in between those. It's just that there are so many factors going on including taking out break intentionally, how firmly you push forward, the length of the putt (hovers are a long putt phenomenon to me not directly tied to the underlying greed speeds), and also the green speed itself. I still stubbornly believe the underlying firmness of the green has an effect, but this is probably just a flaw in my logic and it doesn't actually matter.

The game just doesnt pick up the breaks when changed too much from default setting and thats when you het hover balls and ghost breaks. It will show break and lines not play. Alot of the designers do this to play messed up on purpose. Youve played this game long enough justin. When your designing next set you greens at 182 and practice them. They play what feels quicker than 187s and the break has a mind of its own. Like i said your course plays great on 163's. But because youre in the grey .game thinks its med fast but some play fast and vice versa. Its more luck than judgement on them unfortunately. I know designers specifically choose funky numbers so game plays wrong. Thats all!! As someone who has done a fair share of designing and is somewhat competitive up here (or at least wants to think that, though not so much lately), I’m going to respectfully disagree with your assertion here.

Well that sucked. -1 with those damn winds. -10 round 2 not enough to make up for it. Thinking -14 makes the cut

Boring winds again 🙈. Who actually plays in 20+ mph IRL yawn! Someone just give me a nod when the players championship comes round again 🤪

WD from me. Didn't even bother finishing the first round after I hit driver-driver into a par 4 that rolled into a bunker and then my 3rd shot hit some random wooden pole sticking up vertically??? in front of the bunker.
I'm just really tired of the silly high winds, completely unenjoyable and artificial. Not a fan of getting on to play my 4-8 rounds for the week and hitting a whiffle ball around the course. It becomes a game of who judges the little black circle with white filling at the top of the screen the best. Pretty silly. And to be honest I still haven't learned the numbers on it.
A shame too because it's a cool course with some fun width in play but the insane winds actually completely take away from a lot of that due to the ball flying around like it's made of plastic.
Oh well, we'll try again next week. Maybe I should learn how to short swing so my line deviations don't cause my ball to fly like a nerf ball in the winds?

Had a decent first round of -13. Hm A pat on the back is only 18 inches away from a kick in the pants. Only thing we have time for around these parts is whining!

Had some unfortunate happenings that led to a double but as long as I'm ahead of Larry it's all good. Hah
-43 for me. There's a 44 on the leaderboard as well but as Larry said there's plenty of room to improve on that, for me it was round 3 where I shot an appalling 8 under in low winds.

I’m going to need a list of “shitty” speeds to avoid going forward. Well personally, anything between 101 & 187 are best to be avoided, if you would be so kind

The (spoilers) in the PGA thread title is bang on point every time - always at least one spoiler in here spouting bellyache & bile.
Haven't started yet, but see there are some new techniques to try, looking forward to putting tape on my stick and fapping my rounds.
