Tiger Woods is the reason I have such passion for the game of golf. Heck, I put my fake golfer in red for round 3 as a tribute to the man ("Sunday Fox" color is black 😂😂). I have taken so much flack for my unwaivering opinion that he would be back. I was called blind, ignorant, and stuck in the 00s.
While there was still a lot that needed to play out while he was walking up 18, I started to become emotional, just like I did watching him at East Lake. And then to see him let out a roar, to see him say to Joe "We did it" (which if you watched the latest documentary, he told Joe he could leave Tiger because Tiger wasn't sure if he was ever gonna play again), and then to hug his son and daughter.... Wow. Emotional. Which has been what being a fan of his roller coaster career has been all about.
I hope he passes Jack because he's done more for this game than anyone before (and probably after) has ever done. Amazing day yesterday.

The difference with Willet is Tiger is a living legend, whose story and impact will be celebrated for at least as long as golf exists as a sport. In that context it's not surprising that people aren't fully objective during such a monumental achievement, i.e. giving him more credit than they would for someone else in the exact same scenario. It might not be fair, but GOATs get a free pass, that's just how it is. May as well complain about Chad Thunderc*ck getting a double-team bj in the club toilets when those same 2 girls rejected you earlier saying they've got boyfriends - that's life son, Chads gonna Chad and GOATs gonna GOAT

I hope he passes Jack because he's done more for this game than anyone before (and probably after) has ever done. Amazing day yesterday. I wouldn't put anything past him, but the problem is you know he's always just one big swing in the heavy rough away from wrenching his back out again. Three more Majors with his body falling apart and the quality of these fields is a BIG ask. I agree with you though, Tiger changed golf. Love him or hate him, there's no denying that.

That will be the first and last time I ever cheer on Tiger! Fair play to him, brilliant comeback win. That approach from the pine straw on 11 was awesome. One thing that's annoyed me though, when Danny Willet shot 67 to brilliantly come from behind and beat Speith everyone just went on about Speith throwing it away and Willet being a lucky winner. Molinari popped a couple in the drink down the stretch and Tiger shot 68, but of course that's all Tiger. Can't have it both ways! Let's get a little perspective here - almost everyone on top of the leaderboard at the time dumped it in the water on 12. Tiger played it safe 50 feet out on the center of the green. That IS all Tiger. He knew that was his chance to jam his foot in the door. And if you don't think Molinari was sweating Tiger even with him on the leaderboard, I think that's selling Tiger short. This wasn't Europe. This wasn't the Ryder Cup. This was Augusta, and Molinari knew what Tiger has done there. Molinari beefed the drive on 15. He screwed up by going way too far left on his pitch out, risking those overhanging branches. He didn't have to do any of that - but there was pressure, ungodly pressure, and he cracked. Cantlay made a run, and the promptly fired drives all over the course. He cracked. Koepka missed a putt he absolutely needed to make, and it wasn't exactly an impossible one. He cracked. Tiger never did. He just hung around, waited, and then stuffed one on 16 to crush everyone else's spirit. It as basically match play after 12 and he stared everyone down and they all wilted.

I was more pointing out the lack of respect Willett got for doing the exact same thing!

I think another point is, the thing people are focusing on is not whether its all Tiger, vs. Willet was lucky, but the fact of the comeback and the win itself.
I'm a casual fan at best, I will freely admin, I'm just someone who watches golf casually and likes the game and competition, and played it back in my 30s.
I am not into following all the players. With that in mind, I know who Tiger is, and what he has done for the sport, and I never heard of Willet.
To me, the thing to focus on is the comeback of a great, with all the things that has happened to him. Its kinda like when Peyton Manning had all those neck surgeries, and they didn't know if he would be able to play again, or at a level he used to, and he was able to come back and get one more Super Bowl win with a different team even.

Like one commentator sad Tiger will be famous for 500 years. Danny Willet? Probably not.
It's not about him winning the Masters for me it's about that he never gave up. He could have easily said F it I'm done. It's a great story in sports and more importantly in life.
I understand why people might not like him for some of his off the field stuff but hey let's give any of you guys millions and fame in your 20s and 30s and see what happens.
As for the coverage he gets that is not his fault. It's about ratings. Think of it this way. Without Tiger we would probably be watching a lot of fat white men laying up on par 5s😁
Bethpage is going to be nuts! New York crowd and Tiger has won there before.

To me, the way Willet won not gaining the respect for a great 4th round is because of the way Spieth came crashing down in such a hurry, over the course of three holes.
Spieth was five shots clear of Willet at the turn, then made bogeys at 10 and 11. He was still one shot ahead when he put two balls in the water at 12 on two unfathomably awful shots.
After his birdie at 9, Spieth was 7-under. Willet's final score was 5-under.
Paul Lawrie shot a 4-under 66 in the final round of the 1999 Open Championship, coming from 10 shots back to force a playoff, which he ultimately won with a birdie on the final playoff hole. But hardly anyone remembers that 66, or who even won that event. All most people remember is Jean Van de Velde wading into the Barry Burn.

Fair play to Tiger. I didn't think he'd win another major after he crashed his car to kickstart his slippery slope. Kudos to the man.
I can't comment on the tournament myself as I've only seen two shots, and they were Tiger's last two putts on the BBC Sport app. I have the last day recorded on my Virgin box.

What I take away from this win is it seems Tiger finally has his mental game back. I think that was the cause of a lot of his golfing problems since his downfall. If you have played competition golf (even at the local level) you know that a couple of bad shots can get in your head and you are screwed.
On a lighter note, I LOL'd at this - I have the last day recorded on my Virgin box.

So you know for a fact the Jack or any of those guys did not cheat on their wifes? LMAO OK!
Lets give you millions of dollars and insane amount of fame in your 20s and 30s in a era where people have cameras on their phones and see how you do buddy.
I am not excusing his behavior at have no respect for men who cheat on their wifes but put a lot men in his situation and I bet they would have done the same. Maybe not to the extent Tiger did it but cmon you got women throwing themselves at you. That is hard to resist.
I think his family is just fine. His ex wife got what 400 million or something. His kids look pretty happy to me.

Saying "I bet jack and others cheated" is a BS line of reasoning. If we knew we'd feel differently?! You can't just assume?! Yeah, it's likely some did, but we don't know which...
We DO however KNOW that woods did. Yeah, maybe a lot of people would use their riches and fame, if they had it, in a similar way, but I know I wouldn't, would you?
I was actually able to enjoy his win as an awesome piece of sport, but I wouldn't say I was happy for him, necessarily...
