I’ve got all 3 mapped out and imported with the Lidar in game and all play well, Brookwater will be a ways off as the Bing imaging was absolutely terrible so I quickly traced it as good as I could but it’s gonna need a lot of work. Colonial will be first then I’ll complete The Grand (which I’m going to create some additional tees for to stretch it out a bit as it’s far to short as is off the tips), I’ve also got Robina Woods in game too but I’m not happy with the quality of the Lidar as it’s really lumpy off the playing areas which frustrates me a little to see but I’m sure with a bit of TLC I’ll get it right when I get around to it. You can use other images too. If all of the lineup is off in the same direction it's a piece of cake, if not I'm pretty sure you can still move the shapes around in OSM to get them to match based on how far off they are when you import into TGC. If the shapes themselves are all wrong then that would take much longer to fix. The main thing is to use the same image from start to finish; you can reference others from time to time for shape and location but you still want to draw it in the context of your main image choice. If need be you can draw your shapes with another image and move them to where they fit on your main one: I have been doing this for most of the greens at Canyata.
ezzinomilonga We probably got close to 10 of the courses on your lists covered already i.e. in progress if not finished. I haven't looked at non-U.S. stuff yet so it's hard to say what the data quality is like, but there are so many fantastic courses in Australia that it's only a matter of time before we get around to them.
Of the stateside ones I'm pretty sure Aronimink is on people's radar if not completed (I think there's a mediocre version out now), theclv24 has 'claimed' Crystal Downs (and some excellent Boston area courses such as Old Sandwich, Boston GC, Essex County Club, Myopia Hunt Club), Oak Hill is on someone's list, Colonial will be gotten to, Atlanta what? Atlanta Athletic Club? So many good courses around there not to mention the two Capital City ones, Peachtree and probably a dozen or so others. Cypress is a WIP, Medinah someone will definitely get to, Glen Oaks in NY? Valderrama is a WIP probably 70% complete, believe someone did Royal County Down, NGLA there might be a non-Lidar RCR for, Conway Farms might be a WIP, Friar's Head I believe is a WIP, and probably within the next month or two I'll be bringing you the ultra exclusive Canyata Golf Club which sees <300 rounds per year on average. You get the idea: we have you covered
P.S. I doubt there's a single real course you mentioned so far that isn't on my list all that means is I have gotten to that part of the world so far, not that the list is 'that extensive' although it just might be...

arielatom now tell me the truth. You want to make me cry. These are beautiful, beautiful news. Music for my ea...no no,eyes, eyes. This is even the reason why i wish to get involved in this community. The love for the game is breathable in all the efforts a lot of people does. And some of the designers, above the talent, are really involved even on the philosophy that is behind a project of a course. And this is something that in my eyes changes everything. Sometimes i stop to reading some post where people talks about all thesebthings and i feel a stupid. It's beautiful.

Yes, it's pretty awesome what the community has done for this game. You have to really get involved in learning about the course you pick and caring about the small details if you want it to come out right. Even then, you don't want to pick a course that doesn't interest you: otherwise there's no motivation to work on it. What I decided to do is scout my courses ahead of time looking at photos and, when possible, use Google Earth's 3D imagery to do a ground level 'walkthrough' of the course to get a feeling for the design. From this I had ruled out some courses I thought would be very nice and also found some unexpected gems (Chester Valley in PA if anyone is listening). Btw, Glen Oaks Club NY is a confirmed WIP There's just so much going on. Some people have been working on some UK courses and now there's Scarboro Golf and Country Club in Canada too. It's a cool course and if you have not played it yet you might as well check it out. Some are digging into the Aussie stuff but I am not really sure who's doing what. The next course I'll be finishing up is TPC Jasna Polana. It's a private course in central New Jersey which isn't particularly well known, and while it's not the absolute most memorable course out there it has some unique holes and should make for a fun round. I'm through 15 holes so far, will have planting and some other work to do when the layout is finished before publishing: since it's LiDAR it should not take more than 1-2 weeks from now. If you feel stupid reading all these techy posts, remember that I am just some hack who first started working on lidar courses around one month ago

Me,for me,i love both the ideas. To create rhe well known courses AND to seek and create the gems here and there in the world!
Just in this days i'm working on a list of courses where is indicated (together with some useful stats) also the geographic position of a course, real or fictional (following the indication of the designers, when they says where a course is intented to be)...is a simple way to do something for this community, that is a strong feeling i have. For this reason i wish to release it and to give open access to every member of this forum, so everyone can add and modify courses in the best way. I think that for who have to made a schedule of a tournament this can be a useful tool..and furthermore i like to do this kind of things. To research and report..stuff like this.
Anyway..doing so (i have already reported almost 500 courses,i'm almost at the half of the work, cause i'm following just the courses approved by tgct, but the list have the "approved" tab to check,so it would be possible to put into thr list even the other courses,if the community decide in this way), i have noticed how much courses we have in USA and UK, but very little in places like africa, south america and asia..even in the rest of europe.
Obviously is easy to understand why it happens, but it could be beautiful if we could have more courses from different places. At least these courses where the biggest tours have a round (euro, sunshine, oceanasiatic and south american tours).

That's awesome, so you're working on stuff behind the scenes. Arguably more important that what designers and players do since these two groups get all the credit, when in reality it's the stuff we don't see that makes it happen.
There are some great courses in South Africa that may be worth looking into at some point. No idea how the lidar data is there. Asia has a lot of good stuff as well, and Japan has loads of awesome courses. They also have their interesting summer/winter greens on many courses, so double greens just might be the norm South America has some good ones but I don't know that much about them. All I really know off the top of my head is The Jockey Club.

Is not something important, but i hope it could be something useful. It take lot of time cause i have to search everytime everything the designer explains abour his course. And often i have to read a lot of stuff only to notice that's not a country indicated. Then i google the name of the course and if i find some place interesting,i check some images and if the environment of a place fit with the one of the course,i simplt suggest it like a possible place. That's all. Maybe is a bit more interesting that in this list i'm checking even how much holes there are in every course with water hazards, trees in play, strategic bunkers and elevation changes. Then if a course have crowds or not and how fast are greens and fairways. And how much par 3 and par 5 holes there are. As said above,i wish to be helpful for everyone has to choice some course to play. Still i don't know how and where is the best place and way to release this thing. I need some help from some experienced guy,but before i have to finish and i'm just at the half of the work. About african courses,i don't know why, but i'm absolutely in love with leopard creek, one of the southafrican courses sited in the kruger national park. I love his colours,i think. I love even the course played by the european tour in morocco (i can't remember the name). But yes..there are tons of magic courses in the world. And it's beautiful to know that you guys are working so hard.

That sounds kinda like how I got started. Back when Perfect Golf's Course Forge was in closed beta I started compiling a list of real courses that would be worth re-creating and it turned into a whopping 100+ pages yet still very incomplete, and then in the span of a few weeks I went from 'contributor' to 'designer.' Now I can put it to good use in addition to pitching a few suggestions here and there if people are having trouble finding a course they want to work on.
The massive list was my inspiration for this thread, upon no one voicing interest I figured I might as well pull some courses off it and make OSM for them and try to convince others that said courses would be worth bringing to fruition. Curiosity got to me and I bought the PC version when I already had XBOne to see how the OSM stuff turned out and was so impressed that I decided to finish it up...and that's how my first course (and probably the next three) came to be.

I don't know if i'll never be a designer. I like the idea. But i don't know if i have the damned time to do it. Cause if i have to do something,i have to do it in the proper way. And this thing needs time, passion, hours of thinking about everything, lot of try&fail. I don't know. This list is already taking me a lot of time that i could spend trying to improve my game..but i feel i have to do something for the community. I feel in debt everytime i play. So this thing needs to be done. Then i'll see. But even if i have never tried to design some course,i work on projects of courses, just for my curiosity. Only layouts,i mean. How a hole could be built to be challenging,no thinking about environment or planting. Just a simple layout. Just placing everything to create a full course, with right directions and a realistic way to walk from the first to the last hole. It's a lot funny. And it's not easy at all to realize something realistic and challenging. I like it. Even for this reason there are some fictional course that, while i'm playing it,i think "wow..this is amazing". When a good looking course is even a challenging and clever one,i really love it. And it's not easy to find a course with both of this qualities.
