I believe we have hit a point in TGC where we are saturated with many new and completely average courses. There are perhaps 50 or 60 GREAT courses that no longer get played because of the influx of hundreds and hundreds of new and average courses. Why are we playing courses with 3.5 stars when we could fill up a schedule with 4+ star courses. And "LIKES" are a meaningless way to rate a course.
Everybody wants to play new ones while the truly great ones that people love get ignored because there are SO MANY new courses. I feel we have hit a saturation point. Personally I want to play the "good" courses more then once as opposed to always discovering new ones. Even more then once a year would be fine in my book. Getting to know a course is one of the fun parts of golf.
I understand that creating courses is fun, I did it for many years. But TGC should play the BEST courses and wait on new courses until they prove to be TGC worthy (meaning more then 3.5 stars)
Just an opinion from the opinionated one.

I wish the actual game had a better way of finding the great courses. Even TGC1 was better in this regard.

Star ratings are heavily based on how well the person who rated it, played. Bad round, poor rating. So many people do this. Just keep your favs list well stocked with your most preffered courses.

Sorry, I'm just not on board with the idea that too many quality courses is any sort of a problem.
There are many more quality designers than there ever used to be. The standard of an "average" course is orders of magnitude higher than it was 3 years ago when there were about a dozen "elite" designers.
If there is a course that you would like to see on Tour, feel free to make a suggestion on the course suggestion thread.

Are you kidding me? This is the Golden Age of design with this franchise. There are SO many good designers now putting out excellent courses. In game ratings and likes mean absolutely nothing.

I don't know about this. Firstly I'd never go by the in-game star rating to decide how good a course is. Secondly the design community is what makes this game what it is. It sends out a bad message to not be making use of the new courses being created. I'd agree that the best of the best could be re-used every year, but personally I enjoy playing new courses most weeks. And to say they're average is harsh to say the least! I've liked some more than others but we've played a lot of very good courses already this year.

This game has been around long enough to realize playing new courses or any courses based on "in game ratings or stars" is like wiping before you poop
Just doesn't make much sense...
someone above said it best... Too many times someone rates a course on how they played, meaning if they played well it gets good rating if they dont play well, then bad rating....Which is not fair

Star ratings are heavily based on how well the person who rated it, played. Ba What you and others are saying is that MOST TGC players are stupid and only rate courses acordingnto how they play? I totally disagree with this. TGC player have a higher IQ then you think they have I have yet to play 4 star course that sucks and I have yet to play a 3.5 Star course that is GREAT. I believe most people are smarter then that. Yes there are great courses being made. The average course Now is good but not great.

If anything an "average" course these days would have probably been considered a 4 1/2-5 star gem back in the early days of TGC1. The designer has become more refined with time, the information on how to use to tool to achieve the best results is much more abundant than it was back in the day and the number of guys who can put it all together is much greater than before. Harder for very good courses to stand out these days because the vast majority of what's being put out is very good to great ... That's a great problem to have!

I 100% agree with the above.
im not saying the courses are average. I’m saying the average course is pretty darn good and do not stand out. They are beginning to all look the same

Start or find a society that only plays the best-of-the-best courses.
I've always felt the official Tours are almost as much about exposing us to new courses and designers as they are about creating Tour like competition. In a 42 week season I wouldn't be against maybe 4 or 5 tournaments reusing classic favourites, but much more than and you risk stifling the design community instead of encouraging it.

There's nothing stopping you from playing the courses you want outside the tour, but it just seems Rod just wants to have another whinge. There's been a lot of good courses that's came out from new designers in recent months. If you have 50-60 great courses to split over the 5 flights, you'd be playing the same course every 10 weeks. A variety of courses means different aspects of the player's game is challenged every week.
I rate the courses as I see them as a designer and player, the course might not suit my game but I appreciate the strategy, challenge and of course the effort that is put into them.
