O'hara course isn't as difficult as Bandit Ridge. The greens can be rough but it isn't such a necessity to 'pick your spots' on the fairway.
To be honest tho I'll be happy when we can change to something other than the random bounces links courses tend to produce.
GL all!

Started with a -6 first round ... too many tempo issues to have scored any better, even getting slow backswings which I never get ... strange. ah well on to round 2

Tempo issues went away in round 2 for the most part and my good putting continued to help me to a -12 And -18 at the cut ... now to try and get the promotion Mark back that I threw away last week

Struggled. Slow downswings left me off the green or with long putts. Missed some easy putts and burned the lips on several others. -13 at cut on what appeared to me not too difficult a track if you can approach the greens cleanly unlike myself. Let the waiting game begin...

Round 3 and I somehow managed to bogey 2 of the first 4 holes .. then almost had an albatross on 17 hit the pin and stayed out for a tap in eagle... finished at -7 dissapointing after my second round score

Played 17 holes and I won't continue. Gonna use this week just to decide which controller is best and to practice then hope to come back stronger.

What are the off chances that -10 makes the cut this week? I kinda doubt it. Not sure if I want to play rds 3 and 4 this week.

This course is tougher in some aspects than Bandit ridge, mainly due to the length of the course. Finding the fairway isn't as big of an issue as it was last week. You gotta be weary of the pot bunkers that the fairways sometimes funnel your ball towards but if you are smart and down club a couple times, you'll be fine in the fairway.
Where the course shows teeth is that there will be about 1/2 the course where your second shot is a long iron into the green. The greens are large, with lots of mounds and bumps which means your ball can skirt 7 different ways. The good news is if you find yourself off the green, you won't be penalized by going into deep rough (unless you are really wayward). Instead you'll find yourself on a large patch of fairway or at the worst some light rough. Since the winds are medium, I'm not expecting a lot of bogeys due to this but I am expecting that we'll see less birdies than many courses. There are few putts that have little to no break and many putts that will have 3 or 4 minor breaks in them. If you are on and can get your ball within 10-15 feet of the cup consistently, you can shoot -13, -14 here. If you find yourself fighting 25 foot putts, you are looking more like -5 to -8.

-10, -6, -9, -10 for a -35. In hindsight, I should have switched up some clubs, kept getting very awkward long yardages, and it cost me some shots for sure.
Liked the course, very fair 187 greens, and the fairways had enough to make you think. Of course I still banged driver every time, but made me think about it. ๐

My putter hath forsaken me this week. Absolute garbage. -9 at the cut. Should have stopped at some point and waited for a better time to resume, but I'm stubborn. One of those situations where virtually every putt I hit outside of 5 ft I just assumed it wasn't going in and usually I was right. Confidence was shot. It started with Saturday morning finishing last week's event. Well within top 10 through 2, if I just did the same thing in r3/4 I'd be onto PGA but crapped it away with the putter. R3 of last week's event on Saturday morning I birdied 1 & 2 and finished -2. If I made more than one putt outside of 5-6 ft I'd be surprised. Set a horrible tone for the rest of my TGCtours rounds for the weekend. In hindsight I think it's speed control. If you don't have good speed control the line becomes a moving target. Amplified with shattered confidence as well. Have to step away at some point. I didn't.
The good news is in other society events and misc. alt shots I got my mojo back and shut it down last night feeling pretty good about my game. Onward & upward....slumps are real, but they pass.

Very odd happenings here. I went to check the conditions of round one and it simply didn't tell me as it normally dones before I begin my round. In this case it just put me into my round. Checking the course conditions from within the game it says VF Greens, SOFT fairways, and Fast greens. A quick check on the Greens they are at 187, which is VF. The winds are Medium as expected from the weather forecast page.
What is more odd, going into my round one time the wind is medium to the SOUTH. Exiting out and coming back in, the wind is medium coming out of the WEST, a 90 degree change.
All very odd. I'm going to practice using the conditions I saw on the forecast page, with VF everything.

The "soft" fairways are a glitch that can happen when publishing a course sometimes. Go off what the forecast page says.
As for the wind out of a different direction, *shrug*

Horrible first round. The amount of barely miss the spot for perfection that turns into rolling somewhere 20 feet away was harsh. I played satisfactory but the rolls weren't there. I'll be glad when we can get back to a course that doesn't have the randomness of the last two weeks.
