I'm pleased to reveal that the venue for the CC World Cup event on Week 25 is Thistle Dell (CC Promo). The course is designed by the talented Matthew Fritsch mattf27 who has brought us Ember Ridge, Hickory Creek, Pacific Pines, Aristida Dunes and the newly opened Timber Knolls (Major Championship Entry).
Registration for the event will be open on this thread at the start of Week 23 (Sunday) and will close Saturday 13th April. If there is enough interest from all flights we may require a Qualifier to run during the tour rounds in Week 24.
Ideally we'll have 4 participants from each flight to fill the slots for their designated groups. If not I'll fill the slots as fairly as possible so everyone has a good chance of progressing to the knockout stages. There could be an exciting change of format for the group stages of the event.
I hope to hear from a lot of our CC players on Sunday.
To try and replicate the football World Cup finals and keep the the event within the week timescale, I've came up with a format that I think would make the group stage more fun. The original plan was just have the 2 players who took the least strokes in round 1 to advance to the last 16. My new format would have the 4 players in each group go up against each other in 3 1v1 matches lasting 6 holes each. Here's how it would work -
Holes 1-6 P1 v P2, P3 v P4 Holes 7-12 P1 v P3, P2 v P4 Holes 13-18 P1 v P4, P2 v P3
It would just be Stroke Play matches so the least strokes wins, 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. If 2 players are level on points at the end of the group stage the lowest strokes will decide who advances.
