The direction of the wind (announced) is different from the moment of the tournament. The speed also. I see the predictions, try a combinatorial analysis, but this does not work. At least by practicing enough, you have an idea of where to throw the ball to attack the flag. In the end, what most determines my game, is the precision in puts (probably of all of us).

Winds should always be on default direction as stops multiple practice rounds on said direction and potential for mapping courses. The wind is unpredictable in real life. Setting it at west etc Takes out the jeopardy. Its bad enough competing against the short swing without having to compete against the short swing and ppl knowing exactly how much to loft a 4 iron to knock it stiff on a par 3 aswell Well at least one of direction or speed should be default. If someone really has the time to practice all 8 directions on all 4 pin sets, hell they deserve to win. It wouldn't help anyway in terms of getting exact numbers, I know this from playing Canuck's Augusta speedgolf challenge - same high-southwest (or whatever it was) conditions every time, but the wind still varied by +/- 3-4mph on new rounds, and the direction had a lot of variance too, anywhere between 6.30-8.30. It's always shifting in any case. If someone has a practice round on say high northeast and records the exact clicks needed for one hole where it was 14mph, 12.30pm wind in practice, they are going to be in a world of pain if they just look up their notes and repeat those clicks in the event where it could actually very easily be a 17mph, 2pm wind on that hole.

Agreed. Honestly it only helps for tee shots. Too many variables to replicate a 120 yard approach shot, for instance, as you may get a fast or slow off the tee and be in a different spot.

It's what the 'keen' players do while the rest of us are lugging the beer / wine / insert appropriate libation from the fridge to the couch Bob

-29 after 2, 1 shot back of PC leader at this point. Made a few tough putts, but missed at least 3 inside 10ft. Nevertheless, will hope to keep up the scoring over the final 36, all things considered I'm pleased with my play thus far.
