Welcome to the most prestigious week of the year on the web.coms regular season. With 1 million prize fund, a win this week can send a player hurtling up the web.com money list. joegolferg brings us the stunning Greenbrier golf course for the event, a challenging course where a player putting skill could be the difference between glory and defeat. The weather forecast is looking positive for all four days but can also be unpredictable at Greenbrier. Who will join the list of illustrious past winners of The Grey Matter Cup, such as Marc van Stijn, Shawn Theriot, Fabrizio Costa and Austin Staudinger? Could it be you? Good luck everyone taking part, glory awaits for one of you.

It's an absolute pleasure to host one of your biggest events on tour. Thanks again for choosing Greenbrier and I wish all the players good luck in the tournament. Looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds, I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

Still pretty new to the Web...is this like a “major” are there majors on this tour?

Still pretty new to the Web...is this like a “major” are there majors on this tour? This would be our only mid season major but we have the big 4 at the end of the season, 4 big money events in a row to finish the year.

Well that was nerve racking, some of those short putts where terrifying, knowing I had to hit the ball hard to make the putt but also knowing that missing the cup meant a lot longer putt coming back. The first round I played ok, was not giving myself a lot of chances and my chipping game saved me more than once, two silly bogeys because of stupid shot choices cost me and I finished-5, double digits at the cut line was my goal so have way there. I played smarter the second round, at times leaving myself longer shots in but with a better angle to play the slopes, a bogey free round that should have been a couple of shots better, but cut should be made.
After missing the last two cuts, the pressure was off for round three and it showed, as well as taking the lessons I learned from the first two rounds into the third round, I was hitting the ball better than I had in a long time, I was giving myself birdie chance after birdie chance, even after another silly bogey, my confidence stayed high and I finished-11 and to be honest, that was a little disappointing after the way I played.Round four started the way round three finished. Again another avoidable bogey but was still 7 under after 10. Then I made the fatal mistake, I started thinking. As soon as the thought I could win this entered my head, I started spending to much time on shots, questioning myself on putts, and chance after chance slid by the cup, 6 pars in a row, including some fairly easy putts. I did manage a couple of birdies on the last two holes but it was a genuine chance blown, -32 at the finish.Still after a poor few weeks, a possible top ten is way more than I hoped for, that what if is still there but that’s there every week, no matter how I play. Anyway, some of my highlights.

Way to Early clubhouse leader after round 1 at -11 but don't worry I had an absolute meltdown in round 2! Good luck everyone!

Anyone else 6 putt a hole this week or just me? I was going soooo well until tempo roulette decided to take a dump on me half way through R3. I was sitting -16 after R2 and had a few birdies early in R3. Finished the tourney at -17 2 weeks in a row now I have gotten off to a great start only to be screwed out of it by tempo roulette. The 6 putt was nothing to do with tempo, just me rage playing R4 after I stopped caring.

Congratulations joegolferg, this is a fantastic championship golf course. It's also the course that will make me quit TGCTours. I'm absolutely tired of scoring like an amateur and missing cuts. It's incredibly hard to pull the plug because I keep thinking, "maybe next week," but that is basically meaningless at this point. I can’t play much better from tee to green. All but one of the GIR I missed were just due to slight roll-offs into the fringe I believe. All of the FIR I missed were from over-aggressive lines. I played as well as I can, but my putting is so awful with respect to scoring. I’m so sick of missing hole after hole by inches and having tap-in pars, because that doesn’t get it done in this game. My increase in bogeys in R2 came from trying to force the issue on the greens. Sorry, not trying to be a downer, but playing the Tours is almost no fun anymore.

VctryLnSprts I'm feeling your pain with regards putting; over my first 2 rds I shaved the cup at least a dozen times (may just have to bite the bullet and go full-on Thundercock with putts in future). Particularly on these greens with virtually every putt seeming to be across a long slope due to my wayward approaches. Struggled with tempo/swing in rd 1 and scrambled to a 68 (-3) and looking like yet another missed cut; however in rd 2 the tempo was better (swing still a little wonky) and managed a 63 (-8) to be -11 and a chance to make the cut and erase the Doyley red kiss I earned last week. Good luck to those yet to play / finish.

ENAGC18 I’d have to believe you’re safe at -11 bud, great second round. I hope you make it!

Haven’t played since early Jan, might jump in without a practice and see what happens...
What’s the worst that could happen???
Edit - just read Eric’s post, maybe this isn’t the week to come back lol. Too late, it’s loaded now.

-2, 69 to start.
Can’t be too unhappy with it. 3 birds, 2 bogeys. Be nice if the leaders were at -6 or 8 instead of -11, but it is what it is. Need a good second round or my run of MC’s will continue, think I’ve made one on Euro, then the slide began.
Huzzah mofo’s, huzzah.

-2, -4.
Probs a MC, but fun. Nice course. Brutal pins for a second round, hoping I make the cut to see what they’re like rounds 3 & 4.
*Woo Hoo - Up to level 19 👌🏻

-4, -1 missed cut...my god these greens are just stupid. I had so many birdie putts that just missed the hole at a slow rate of speed and then i'm facing a 15, 20, sometimes 80 foot par putt coming back. Had a 10 foot putt that i tapped at about a 2 foot speed and ended up with over 80 feet left. Same with a couple of chips that grazed the hole and looks like it's going to die and then bam i'm left with a 40-50 foot par putt. I also played a pitch shot into a yellow break that i though would feed straight down to the hole but somehow stopped on the yellow break...which made for a very interesting 20 footer that broke about 5 cups in the first 2 inches...how that stopped but everything else just kept rolling and rolling and rolling is beyond me
